2024 Season General Discussion Thread

Congratulations to all the winners, you didn't control the voting ... and congratulations to all the voters who have proved that they are truly #thrunthru Titans by demonstrating that they don't have a friggin' clue, how consistent with the team's IQ.

The winner didn't even play half the season although he should have won Rookie by a mile (Pahulu went alright but Randall was a warhorse and Clark seriously pushed him), the runner-up was arguably our most clueless player and as the players' player just shows how ridiculous this mob is (Jojo must have consistently farted in the dressing shed), the members' choice was an embarrassing nod to being politically correct and I am not referring to our very own PC. Only the women got it right but then again they only had one player worthy of it.

Kini isn’t eligible for rookie, T. Don’t really think him winning the player of the year was that controversial either tbh

Randall & Clark not polling is a travesty. Don’t get me started on BRIAN

Roty was always going to be Pahulu. No one else played enough games to make a case.

No argument really from me HS. Kini had a great season, I don't begrudge his award at all and he was certainly our flashiest player but imo he wasn't our best player across the season. His early games were pretty average to be fair whilst the toilers, as always, are largely ignored ... just saying, but if Kelly is among our best then who am I to judge :)

maybe flashiest but also hardest trying, most effort-driven player too. IMO

It's hard to accept Kini as our best all year when he had some errors in defense and missed a good chunk the season. I don't really want to be negative towards Kini, he obviously is primed to become one of our best ever players, if not the best ever Titan, but to deny Randall, J. Fifita or even someone like Fermor and Clarke for their efforts all season long feels a little ungrateful for their week on week performances. I agree with other posters it shows the core of the culture which permeates around our club that what is rewarded is not what's important, like goal line defense or week on week consistency.

We’re discrediting him because of a handful of 1 on 1 goal line defensive errors that were often exaggerated anyway? He saved a fair few as well. Randall for all his efforts got rolled through the middle being a small body. Fermor had some shocking moments on both sides of the ball and doesn’t win the tackle well or get over the ball. Jojo was fantastic but it took him a bit to find that run of form. Point is that you can nitpick any one of those guys for things, some of which are probably having a worse impact over an 80 minute game. Keano played 16 games, only 3 less than Jojo.

I really don’t think it’s hard to accept at all. He’s a good chance win the Moe Joe award on here too

This debate will become frightening when, not if, Zane Harrison makes grade. I must admit that today's schoolboys final was the first game of his I've been able to watch uninterrupted. Very impressed, particularly after missing a week HIA then got straight back into it after being hit very late. Special talent.

Personally, I am very pleased HS mentioned the MoeJoe Award which really deserves a lot more of the Forum troupe participating.

When does the MoeJoe get announced? Surely it's the pick of all the club's awards. :geek:

Happy for Kini. He would have been my pick. I think it's worth remembering that we had a pretty ordinary season and our best were up and down.

In saying that, I'm filthy that BK got anywhere near and that Randy didn't get a look in. He would have been my second with Jojo a very close 3rd. What really bothers me is that Des is clearly encouraging BK. In the wise words of the coach that I would have signed over Holbrook, "There needs to be an investigation into this!" Seriously! We need to know how what we're seeing is so far from Des and the players' reality.

HS - can you do us all up a PowerPoint presentation to explain it?

MoeJoe Award. I think we can leave voting open until Friday for anyone who wants to vote I. The last round. Then I’ll tally it up.

This was part of my latest PowerPoint presentation deck and none of you even complimented it :(

Can’t you see the way the font and line spacing captures the eye? The off-white connects with the retina in such a way that only those with my elite business IP would understand
I didn't want to say anything HS but I was disappointed that you rehashed your old Mortal Kombat font for the presentations. Especially when you didn't follow it up with "KEANO WINS".

As it is Awards Week I would like to thank mdrew for his amazing work reporting on everything to do with our juniors, Hail Sezer for being available to answer any and every question put to him and Diehard for his excellent work in making the League of Titans Forum the place that it is. To the rest of you numbnutz, thank youse for just being youse, have a great off-season.

Another complaint of mine is the lack of urgency in the play the ball … lying down looking for penalties really is embarrassingly pathetic (looking at you Difita and AKP). Then there is the ridiculous appealing for 6-agains with arms waving around like offended mud crabs. I really dislike the attitude of a lot of our squad.
