2025 Prediction Thread

I heard that Hopoate was only just made Top 30 a week or two ago. That's amazing rostering if that's true. Can we swap Ken for him?

A little late but been refraining to see how other teams are looking this season before posting.

Predicted finish - Optimistically scrapping into 8, realistically 12th.
Best player - Tino carrying the team again, followed by Jojo.
Most surprising - AJ at 6.
Prem’s - Storm
Last - Eels

As much as I really like our starting team on paper, I think the lack of depth - especially in the halves will hurt us. As always there is a lot of optimism around but realistically:
- our starting (and only healthy top 30 halves?) are our most injury prone players in the squad and have spent most of their careers at fullback. When the going is good we will be red hot but may struggle in the tighter games.
- KK is in his second year and teams will have done a lot more homework on him, especially in regards to defence and high balls with his small stature.
- we still have no idea how to get the best from our second rowers and both are good on attack but give away physicality on defence (if we have another bad year I’d be trading one for a defensive workhorse). Same goes for centres.
- Our pack is okay but for a ‘star studded’ pack we give away a lot of metres on defence. Our slow starts in the trials don’t provide a lot of confidence that we have fixed those habits.

If we can stay injury free at the start of the season, especially in the halves, we stand a chance of making the eight IMO.

I’d really like to see some aggression from our forwards this year. Other than Tino, we can be pretty lacklustre - Mo, Joliffe, Fermor, Fafita aren’t scaring anyone. RCG should bring some size and leadership, but it’s time for the others to step up on defence.

Let’s hope it all clicks. I’ve wanted to see the JC and Aj J pairing for a long time. Fingers crossed they get a good run at it!

Cows look shite. Could be a front runner for the spoon. Sam McIntyre and a 73 year old Jordan McLean as starting props, no name backline except for Dearden and Taulagi, and their million dollar Origin second rower playing QCup.
