2025 Season General Discussion

“Respectfully, does anyone care about the Gold Coast Titans?”

Comments like this? They’re exactly why we as Titans fans have had to endure years of relocation rumours and casual disrespect from the broader NRL community. It’s frustrating because it ignores the reality of a fanbase that’s small but fiercely loyal, and it feeds into the tired narrative that we’re irrelevant or disposable.

Does anyone care? Absolutely we do. Every Titans fan I’ve met, online or in person, bleeds for this club. We feel every mistake. We ride every hard-fought win like it’s a premiership. Unlike bigger clubs, we don’t have the luxury of bandwagoners. And let's be honest, you don’t attract fair-weather fans when your success on the field has been as inconsistent as ours. The people who stick around are the real deal; diehards who show up season after season, no matter how many times we get kicked in the teeth.

Sure, we haven’t been contenders. Parker’s comments about our mental toughness, consistency, and tendency to look for the easy option aren’t wrong. We’ve lacked the ability to stay in the contest against top sides. But none of that means our fanbase doesn’t care. In fact, it’s the opposite. The frustration we feel stems from caring too much; from knowing how good this team could be if we fixed the cracks.

It’s exhausting to see this cycle repeat - the Titans struggle, someone asks if we should even exist, and we get written off before the seasons even started. But the truth is, this club matters. It matters to its fans. It matters to the Gold Coast community. And we deserve more than lazy narratives that dismiss our existence outright.

So yes, we care. Every single one of us who wears the blue and gold cares. We’ve stuck it out through the highs and lows (and let’s be real, it’s been mostly lows). But we’re still here. Still cheering. Still believing. And one day, when this club does turn the corner (which we all hope is sooner rather than later), it won’t be because of bandwagoners or media hype. It won't be because we've signed all the best free agents. It’ll be because of the fans who cared all along, and those who have stuck by the club and believed in what it stands for.
I travel 3 1/2 to 4 hours plus to get to the games and 3 1/2 home. Last year I think I missed 2 home games. Thursday and Friday games I often take a day off to attend. So yeah I care. Through the middle of last season the team progressed for the first time since Graham Henry was the coach. If our major players avoid injuries we should have a good season.

Corey Parker is a dumbass... One of the bigger ones, But I actually don't mind him as a pundit... He's blunt and is a dickhead but nothing he really said was off base ever and he was one of the only old broncos actually going after Kevvie. The article has done him a bit dirty when listening to it, he clarified quickly and pretty clearly meant it was about media and why we're not talked about when looking at the squad it's a good team.

He's a Bronco, Is it a surprise he doesn't understand why no media talks about us?

Saying our results need to do the talking to get attention isn't some ground breaking statement, I feel that way and from memory I've seen most of us say the same things as recently as the NRL promo vids. He said the only gain of significance was RCG which has earned him a spot on NZTs hitlist but might be true at least till later in the year.

Our defence despite being better at times still leaking way to often, how dumb we are with penalties and errors. He doesn't think we needed RCG to much, That's not a rare opinion but t's not a good one when we've all watched when our starters go off it's as big of a drop off as possible, Says we need to game plan around our pack which BK mentioned I think and obviously with AJ and JC that our attack is going to be a bit different.

A lot of us have all frequently mentioned the answer they came to... Win.

In terms of "caring" about the Titans. I was really proud of the boys beating the Broncos twice.

Round 12 and Round 22 and that great win in Round 21 at Lang Park. Was happy to witness the later wins.

We need to keep winning these local games and against the Cowboys. And especially the Broncos.

It's about paying off the faith and support from our fans, but also having our rivals seeing us as a threat.

Consistency is key too. And most of all that killer instinct.

Listening to the SEN snippet (About 30s to 5:38), they list lots of exciting prospects. We are certainly have lots of stories that many other clubs don't. We just need most of those pieces to come together.

If we're in the top 8.

Kini will be as marketable as Reece Walsh on every level IMO if we become a top 8 team and then those Broncos days don't matter as much, If JC booms he's going to be must watch, AJ killing it and then the rest, We need to slap the Broncos and make them look foul and the best way is to keep slapping them and be a top 8 team.

Not just winning against Queensland teams because we just won the XXXX cup..... It's fun but nah. Our home record is shocking and we got voted 2nd behind Suncorp for where players love to play.

That's an issue with how the team plays IMO is based around that, When good teams who attack come into town they love it here, We attack well mostly, Better teams come here laughing on a great surface and cook us.

I genuinely think we can be one of the bigger clubs with how marketable we are, Just win games.

Can someone post the Drongoes Murdoch story on the Drongoes invading and taking over the GC please.
That way I can feel even more sick after my previous post.

NRL 2025: Brisbane Broncos target Gold Coast as a growth area amid south east Queensland battle for fans

The Broncos aren’t content with being the kings of Brisbane, with the club set to embark on a south east Queensland pre-season blitz amid an ongoing turf war.

The Broncos are ramping up their Gold Coast invasion with the $75 million NRL powerhouse embarking on a south east Queensland blitz ahead of the 2025 Premiership.
The Michael Maguire era of the Broncos will kick off with a string of appearances in the region as Brisbane looks to build on its 60,000-strong membership base.

The Broncos are capitalising on a lack of local exposure for M1 rivals the Titans by holding a trial match and fan day on the Gold Coast.

Maguire’s first Broncos team will play a trial against Hostplus Cup club the Burleigh Bears at Pizzey Park on Saturday week.
The Broncos will also host a fan day and the majority of Brisbane’s top squad – including Gold Coast locals Pat Carrigan, Ben Hunt and Reece Walsh – is expected to be in attendance despite mostly second-stringers playing in the trial.

The Broncos will then head west for their first NRL Pre-season Challenge trial against the Titans in Toowoomba on February 16 before facing the Bulldogs at Redcliffe on February 22.

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said the club was excited about playing across the south east Queensland region.

“We are going to be in south east Queensland for the three weeks of the trials which is amazing,” he said.

“We’ve got the game at Burleigh, game in Toowoomba and game at Redcliffe against the Bulldogs.

“There is a real south east Queensland blitz that gives us a chance to get out and connect with our fans before the season starts.”

The Titans have been close to anonymous this pre-season as they attempt to fly under the radar.

They have been back at training under coach Des Hasler for nearly four weeks since the Christmas break and are yet to hold a media opportunity with an NRL player.

In contrast, the Broncos, Dolphins and Cowboys have been holding at least one media call a week during pre-season training with the trials looming.

The Titans have also opted not to play a trial match against either of their feeder clubs – Tweed Heads or Ipswich. They lost Gold Coast powerhouse Burleigh to the Broncos last year.

The Titans will face the Broncos in the first week of the NRL Pre-season Challenge and then the Dolphins at Redcliffe.

Given they have a bye in round 1 of the NRL season, and are away to Canterbury in week two, the Titans will not be seen on the Gold Coast until round 3 against the Knights on March 22.

With a booming population of 650,000, the Gold Coast is the Broncos’ second-largest market in Queensland outside of Brisbane and they have traditionally enjoyed strong support in the region.

The Broncos usually play their feeder club trial match at Wynnum-Manly, but Donaghy said a new agreement meant they were rotating it between Burleigh and Souths-Logan in the coming years.

“We’ve got three feeder clubs and when we renewed the agreements, through conversations with the clubs we decided it was time to share the trial match around,” he said.

“We can take a game out into the local rugby league community and give back but also spread it out. Our affiliates are amazing.

“It’s Burleigh’s turn this year. They’ve been a great partner of ours over the last 12 months and we’re very excited to go down there for a game and also a fan day.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to have that real close connection to everyone in and around the club.

“When we go to the Gold Coast to play the Titans we have a really big supporter base so I’m sure there’ll be a lot of Broncos fans turning out for the trial.”

Thank you WD.
So having read that article I just see it as the arse licking lick spittle Journos at the Murdoch Drongoes just basically trolling us.
It wasn’t as Disturbing as I feared.

Also sounds like they are dirty that we aren’t having as many press availability as they want.

And Walsh, Hunt and Carrigan aren’t GC locals. They are imposters who really should FRO and stop embarrassing the Drongoes club and supporters by living here.

Some clubs like the Roosters get a hard ride from the media due to lack of junior development. Many in the media took a shot at us over the years.
However if you look at the lack of development Broncos have in bringing thru juniors to first grade it’s alarming especially considering the size and population of greater Brisbane.
You could argue the Broncos are the bought not bred of today.

A couple of things I read in to that article.
A lot of it spells out poor management by our mob. I know it's been explained but how Burleigh are not one of our feeder clubs beggars belief.
Of course if we had a standard reserve grade comp like the good old days, feeder club issues would primarily be a non event. (V'landys was talking about reserve grade again but it seems to have died off). We would also have a much better quality lead in to the NRL by having stronger teams, but that's for another time, or is a dead horse.
Not making players available for media is poor. If we don't give media columns to fill they'll get it from clubs that do.

Two things are indisputable: (1) for whatever reason Burleigh was allowed to be a ‘Ponies plaything, it is a PR disaster, and (2) our relationship with the Brisbane-based media is also a PR disaster.

Somebodies at Titans HQ need reaming.

Horo and Willie said that Foz is going to be on their show in the next few weeks.

An issue that's popped up is 7 cancelled their GC news and 9s GC news is basically about to be cancelled it sounds like running in Brisbane with a lot of staff cutbacks,The two who were constantly at Titans stuff have been moved.

Unless CM or whoever travel down which seems very rarely and I don't think Fox go, There's no one there to do press to so why bother and I reckon Travis only wants to speak to Dave or players like that, The last one with Fermor was just our media guy.

They should be doing way more though even through their own avenues and it just seems lazy.

How tragic was Mason in that, said some positive things about us but also exposed himself as having no clue. Saying “Kelly is a gun and a great defensive centre and I can’t see a spot for Jojo in the team” had me howling

The staff cut-backs and closures of regional offices should be a jolt in the backsides of our PR people. We will always be up against it with the CM mob and they won’t get sand in their shoes coming to us.

It is up to our guys to create a media presence by: (a) appointing a designated infiltrator and taking our best players to them regularly with news, (b) developing our own network of podcasts etc using the likes of Rogers, Bird and dare I say it Wallace to counter the Parkers of this region, (c) springboard our pathways on the back of our Junior/schoolboys success, and (d) getting some serious channels into Foxland with some insider info on the behaviour of other clubs morons in our territory.

Just for starters, the NRL has the Mole, we could have the Fantom, the ghost who writes and who could make any outrageous comment he/she wants.

The arrogance and doublethink of the Broncos is breathtaking.

On one hand they have stooped to really petty turf wars with the Dolphins. Calling them not Brisbane and "Redcliffe". But using that same logic you would exclude their own fans from Redlands and Logan.

Now they want to roll into the GC? With Burleigh, it's only a matter of time before they fall out. Broncos feeder arrangements have been the kiss of death over the years. Brothers. Aspley "Broncos", Clydesdales. Logan Scorpions. Wests Panthers.

At the same time they are fighting a local battle with the Dolphins who have made massive inroads into northern Brisbane.

Cowa and Titanic are dead-on about the crisis in the Gold Coast media. It's to a great detriment to the Titans.

Losing regional news and papers has been tragic for communities and journalism. It's sad to see the the so-called digital age and "information super highway" we were promised.

There is plenty we can do to help. Keep those ideas bubbling. 2025 is the year we put them in play.

Honestly, the best way we as fans can help improve the media coverage and involvement with the Titans is just by making noise; literally and figuratively. Share, like, comment, tag, repost, all that good stuff. If you see a Titans interview, hype it up. If there’s content about the boys, engage with it. The more interaction a post gets, the more the club (and the media) will see that there’s actual interest in hearing from the players beyond just match highlights or copy & pasted articles.

Also, don’t be afraid to ask for more. Clubs and media teams take notice when fans actually demand better content. Want more interviews? Say it. Want more behind-the-scenes stuff? Ask for it. If they see enough people calling for proper media involvement, they’ll have to listen. At the end of the day, the Titans are our club, and if we want more insight, more player stories, and just better coverage in general, we've got to show up, support, and make sure our voices are heard.

if we actually want better media coverage for the Titans, we got to start pushing for it ourselves. It’s no secret that the club doesn’t always get the spotlight it deserves. The Gold Coast Bulletin was out here covering the so-called “Broncos Invasion” in today's paper, with all the praise going towards the donkeys, and none for the amount of effort we actually have been putting into our local expansion. That’s our local news, and somehow, the Titans still don’t get as much love as they should. So, let’s change that.

Let’s start asking the club to be more proactive in getting coverage. Cameron Stallard (Senior Content & Media Executive) and Tara Campbell-Barry (Creative & Brand Lead) are the ones handling this kind of stuff internally. So, if we want the Titans to have more interviews, more stories, and just better media presence, they’re the people to hit up. And if the club needs a nudge, we can always point them towards Tom Boswell—the guy literally in charge of local sports coverage for the Bulletin. The Titans should be in his inbox every damn week with fresh stories, player insights, and content that actually gets fans engaged.

But this isn’t just on the club. If we want more media involvement, we've got to make some noise too. Message the club, tag them in posts, and tell them what kind of content we actually want. Comment on articles asking why the Titans aren’t getting the same attention as other teams. If we start demanding more, the media will have no choice but to listen. At the end of the day, this is our team, and they deserve way more hype than they’re getting. Let’s make it happen.

I'd also LOVE to know the financial position the club is in. We have not released figures in years.
