2025 Season General Discussion

^^ We offer to sell the home game for magic round. As in, we are literally choosing to do it. No one's fault but those in the front office who opt to sell it. Plus it means we get to be apart of Magic Round each year.

Another example of how overrated and shortsighted our ownership group is then. Why is it the Cowboys don't do this - ask yourself.

It's no coincidence we've done jack all under them and Steve Mitchell, regardless of how we try to dress it and forever feel indebted due to them "saving" the club but then allowing it to live on in a coma year after year.

Your last sentence makes no sense, should we assume we will always get an early round AND magic round bye each year because lol Titans?

I mean mathematically 94.12% of teams must play at magic round each year so why would we be worried we are going to regularly miss out, especially considering we are one of the local teams.

If it were to go off the NRL's original plans for the team with the least fan engagement, safe to say we'd automatically miss out. Our fanzone is the last to sell out every magic round, and it would mean we'd miss out on the extra revenue from the ticket gate should we miss it. It's all about money. plus, it's only an hour train, depending on where you are at.

Why is our home game vs Donkeys on Sunday at 6.15pm on a non holiday weekend unless I'm not seeing it?

The draw and byes might be worse then last year somehow wtf hahahaha.

The issue is about the success of the team and needing to maximise your chances of making the top 8 rather than being concerned in missing out on revenue on a single game.

Team success brings in extra revenue to a club and having all of your home games actually played at CBUS maximises your chances to making the top 8 and in turn increases your revenue through semi final appearances and more club memberships.

Trust me, I am absolutely on the same page as you with it. I agree the magic round game shouldn't be our home game. But our management does not see it that way. I wish we had 12 games at CBUS, but until we stop selling the home game to the NRL for some of that sweet Magic Round revenue, it won't happen.

Sometimes I think all of us here on the forum could run the club 100x better than who is right now XD

It just goes to show how small minded and tin pot the club really is.

So you agree, our owners and management are small minded and awful. Their logic gives out real George Shinn Charlotte Hornets 1990's vibes.

This is not how good operators worldwide run professional sporting teams.

Oh absolutely. But, we are in a better position then we were a decade ago, so I tend to cut them some slack at times.

Playing the broncos at 615pm on a Sunday?

What the ****?

That's one of our biggest crowds on the season at home. Club has been absolutely stitched up here

Never been a draw guy personally, if you're a top 8 team you'll find a way. Simple as that.

However, if we want to be analytical about it, ideally you want to actually play the 'good' teams straight away before they settle into combinations, however there is an argument that origin period picks them apart for a week or so, but yea generally the worst teams to play at the start of the season are the mid-tier sides (say 6-14), who are full of optimism and their excitement is burgeoning, whereas the elite teams absolutely tend to be a little rusty at season's start and are prone to drop an easy game or two.

You want the end of the season stacked with the worst teams/teams with little depth who will likely run out of steam/cattle.

So from a real quick glance we have a tough start to the season, possibly some help during the origin period, and an okay end to the season, nothing really eye-opening, and like I said, if we're a serious team worthy of contention for an 8 spot then none of this matters much anyway.

Women's game on beforehand is the main reason. Look back to the other women's games that have gone on after a men's game and the amount of people who trickle out and leave. Doesn't make for a decent atmosphere nor does it look good televised. It's good to get more eyes on the women and allow them to experience larger crowds than they'd usually get if it were to be a singular standoff home game.

The nrlw games beforehand barely have anyone there till half time and even then it's usually just people coming in late and tbh the girls didn't exactly light the world on fire last year.

It's wild IMO.

So force people to watch a product they’re not interested in to the detriment of the product they are actually interested in
