2025 Squad, Signings and Rumours Thread

Did a bit of research on him.

Was in the junior NZ rugby rep teams and highly touted, Cowboys scouted him and moved him over at 17, Madge signed him for 3 years and he killed it in NSW cup as a 18/19 year old and debuted in NRL and then drove to Maccas without a licence and curbed the car and did a runner in the 2022 pre season, Sounds like he liked those late night trips and had diet/form issues and wasn't re-signed, Signed with Norths and did a pre season with the Dolphins and looks like has grabbed the opportunity.

Warning for NZT, Have tissues near.

CG interview today, The Tweed game was his first ever game of league confirmed....Wild, His dad used to play though and CG watched a lot growing up and idolized Lockyer. Sounds like he'll be in the halves but nothing confirmed from Dessie.

He's representing the Titans with Greg Bird at a golf tournament being held by Horo, Couldn't pick a better person to introduce him to the world of league hahahahah.

Tuki only turns 23 in a few months too, so no matter what you might think of his past few years there's plenty of time for him to further improve his game under us. I'd much rather a signing like this than an almost washed-up old forward like Liu when he left the Roosters (yes, he had maybe one decent year with us but after that seemed to fall off a cliff, IMO had trouble keeping up with the increasing speed of the game).

We should constantly get in the best of the QCup.
Be nice if we signed whoever got the Centre of the year award.
Jordan Lipp was a guy I thought some smart team would grab and turn into a decent FGer. Started as a centre, but now I think would have to get on the mass gainers to play there consistently at NRL level.

He looked like a bit of a non-tackler against the Hunters. I think I remember HS saying recently how much harder it is to step up to NRL level at centre ... something about BK being QCup centre of the year? Hope he is next year.

A lot of centres who look like world beaters at cup level really struggle with the defensive role in first grade. It’s a huge step up and the way cup footy is played doesn’t fully test them for what gets thrown at them in the NRL. It’s why a lot of cup centres get train and trial deals that go nowhere - coaches know how to test for defensive habits/deficiencies in pre season and work out what can be taught/what probably cant.

Sami Sauiluma a good example. Was the top centre in cup for 3-5 years. No NRL club picked him up.

IMO there's about 5 centres who can defend pretty consistently well in the league and that's being generous since even the ones that are good like Tago, Val and Manu have had some horrible moments this year defensively for most of it, Crighton and surprisingly Staggs has gotten a lot better as well but it starts getting thin IMO after that.

It sounds crazy but BKs defence doesn't really offend me that much, It is foul but because most of the league sucks I can kind of cop it somewhat, It's all the errors and dumb shit he does that really cost us, Most teams can't defend edges that well but what kills us from him is all the other negative stuff he brings that REALLY effects us.

I actually think this is a pretty fair summary

The RCG talk should probably come over here? There were 5 clubs reportedly in it and they've all been skipped apparently.

Especially since he got a release.... Not bad... Not bad at all if true and has to have been in the works for a while.

  1. Matt Dufty (Warrington)
  2. Matty Ashton (Warrington)
  3. Nene MacDonald (Salford)
  4. Jake Wardle (Wigan)
  5. Liam Marshall (Wigan)
  6. Mikey Lewis (Hull KR)
  7. Marc Sneyd (Salford)
  8. Matty Leeds (St Helens)
  9. Danny Walker (Warrington)
  10. Luke Thompson (Wigan)
  11. Rhyse Martin (Leeds)
  12. Junior Nsemba (Wigan)
  13. Elliot Minchella (Hull KR)

Nene got centre of the year to My/HS's point about the centres...

Nsemba is a freak and will be out here sooner then later, Lewis is the best 7 by a mile over there. I remember someone here telling me Brodie Croft was better then Tannah which made me laugh at the time because I've watching the quality over there, The 7 who replaced Brodie got 7 of the year in a dog shit team and Brodie and Matt Crawford and Brad Arthur is trying to get rid of all of them hahaha.

Super League sucks compared to old days.

Reagan and Tino in a defensive line gets me very excited, I could care less about the penalties that are about to happen as long as we're taken heads and putting them on spikes.

Reagan hits like truck at least once a game and I appreciate that.

I like the idea of RCG coming to the club. It’s a good idea to have an elder player who can still play at a high level. If he does sign it’s another signing that has been kept quiet that shows the club doesn’t have any leaks

We defintely need a quality prop and he ticks the box. He will provide the hard hitting D we need up front to support Tino. He stats this year on both sides of the ball are very good.

It’s already been leaked. Otherwise we aren’t having this conversation now.

Another forward potentially heading our way and would be a good pick up from an article from Ethan Chalk

Another NRL team is reportedly interested in Newcastle Knights forward Brodie Jones's services for next season, as he remains uncontracted at this stage.

Failing to surpass the 2024 NRL Finals series opening week, the Newcastle Knights have been amid a roster rebuild for the past few months. However, unlike other teams, the rebuild isn't due to their lack of success on the field but rather about freeing up room in their salary cap.

Multiple players and club veterans have already left the team or been linked with leaving the club, including Adam Elliott, Jayden Brailey, Jack Hetherington, Jackson Hastings, Mat Croker, Daniel Saifiti and Enari Tuala.

Confirming that he received interest from The Dolphins to join them for next season, off-contract forward Brodie Jones may find himself in Queensland in 2025 but for another team.

Already linked with one Queensland club, The Newcastle Herald has reported that he has now caught the interest of the Gold Coast Titans.
Despite the interest from the two clubs, it is understood that he desires to remain under Adam O'Brien but risks being squeezed out of the club as they rebuild their roster under recruitment guru Peter O'Sullivan.

This comes as the team farewelled quartet Daniel Saifiti, Tom Jenkins, Krystian Mapapalangi and Enari Tuala at their club's awards night last Tuesday evening.

Progressing through the club's pathways system since 2014, Jones has been a regular feature off the Knights interchange bench this season, appearing in 18 first-grade matches.

Capable of playing in the top competition, his potential arrival to The Dolphins or Gold Coast Titans will add to their forward depth and put pressure on the existing squad members for a regular spot in the team.
