2025 Squad, Signings and Rumours Thread

I presume we've allowed him to go as he isn't apart of any future plans? Especially with Zane coming through?

Fair way is being very very very respectful IMO... I'm a Javon stan.

Javon has set up about a million tries without Zane and bigger then Ryder.

Zane and Javon work so well together and they've had probably 12 or so games together maybe all up???? Both have said they want to play 10 years together.

Yeah Javon is real good. TBH I was not sure on the hype of Ryder in the first place. He had some size for a half but did not overall impress me skill wise.

Javon on the other hand has both size and skill.

Why would Ryder agree to give up his guaranteed top 30 spot this year unless another club offered him the same?

Not that I'm complaining. Can we do the same for Maumalo, R Foran, Liyou and HSS lol?

He doesn’t have to agree if we pay out the remainder of his contract up front
Like HS said, There's probably more to it then meets the eye.

R.Foran has been good in cup... He's way ahead of someone like Ryder, R.Foran has legit rocked up better then nearly all players in cup playing at lock which he's never done, There's starting to be something... He pulled a Dave and scooted from dummy 5 out to outpower 3 middles from Bears and got it down.

Ryder was nowhere near Q cup.

If our cap is that tight maybe a couple of big names should be told to look around.
Too late. We signed Tino on a long-term mega-deal and we're stuck with Fifita for another two years. And Mo. And I imagine RCG didn't come cheap either. This is the issue with pumping so much money into your forwards. You leave nothing for anyone else. It really shows. Our backs are bog-average apart from Jojo but even he's nothing special. Imagine if we lose Kini as a result of this.

Do we know if Des has a trigger in his contract if we make the eight he gets an automatic extension?
The whispers about DCE are getting stronger and with Des’s love of money he would buy a 37 yr old to save his career

What's the point of signing new coaches though when the issue is clearly with the personnel? It's those responsible for our recruitment and retention that I'd be looking at moving on. And who the hell is responsible for scouting around looking for players that fit our style of coaching? That doesn't solely lie on the coach's shoulders either.

The last two games we have barely put on any set plays in attack, hit ups, an inside drop off and then 5th tackle kick.
That tells me we have a coaching problem

Yep, Des has killed off a lot what makes us able to be a smaller/quicker team in the backs by killing off a lot of the creativity for Des style footy which is fine but he also picks the same team that can't do it.

HS said in the other thread he doesn't think RCG is on that much coin so I stand corrected on that. Anyway I reckon he's the least of our problems atm.

BTW I'm not excusing the coaching at all, but I mean how many coaches do you guys want to go through till we start winning? There comes a time (and I think I'm there) when you think, damn, maybe some (not all) of these players are a lost cause at this club and no coach will be able to get the best out of them?

RCG is apparently on 4/500k which is absolutely fine, Moe is on 800k or so and is really a detriment right now defensively around the middle constantly being exposed.

My issue is you'd hope at least to see some improvement defensively from Sami or the guys we've seen for years and there's nothing... Surely that's on coaching at a certain point as much as recruitment which is also a combo project with Des. Some have maybe improved but it's kind of hard to tell when the ones who haven't are dragging us down badly with the same mistakes.

Greg Eastwood was the ultimate Desballer and he is the opposite of what works in the 6 again era
