Burleigh Bears 2018

Interesting to see Dylan Pyhtian is know at Burleigh, there was some big wraps on him at the knights. Had some bad luck with a couple of knee injuries and a drug matter with a 12 game ban. Will be interesting to see how he goes he is a very talented player

Meanwhile, Henare Wells and Jai Whitbread are set to return for Burleigh’s Saturday blockbuster against Redcliffe at Dolphin Stadium but Tyronne Roberts-Davis (neck) is out.

The 2016 grand final opponents will become the first ISC teams to play each other on 50 occasions.

“I wasn’t aware of that (statistic) but it’s certainly one where it’s important not just for where your season sits but just to see how you measure yourself,” said Bears coach Jimmy Lenihan.

“Redcliffe are one of those sides that are always generally a top three team so you generally get a good idea of how you’re travelling.”

With Dallas Wells (leg) still out, Josh Rogers retains the No.7.

“He is probably just starting to find his feet a bit recently so he’s been good,” Lenihan said.

  • Second-placed Redcliffe plays third-placed Burleigh in an Intrust Super Cup blockbuster on Saturday afternoon.
  • Redcliffe, led by former Manly five-eighth Cameron Cullen, will welcome the home ground support as they look to continue their winning ways following a strong away effort against PNG last weekend.
  • They meet a Burleigh Bears outfit coming off a 28-24 loss to the Norths Devils.
  • PNG Kumuls forward Luke Page will captain the Burleigh team.
  • This will be the 50th game between these two sides - the first time this milestone has been reached in the Cup.
  • The recent results of both teams points to this one being a close one – the Dolphins have won five of their past six home games; while Burleigh have won five of their seven away games this year.

The Burleigh defensive communication has been nigh on non-existent ... Leo can run but there's not much else in the team except for Pythian. The basic execution has been dreadful and the errors woeful. Pretty disappointing.
