$850 fine is a travesty. Although I reckon the NRL will step up on this it goes to show how out of touch the judicial system is. The CM had an editorial today highlighting that if you use your phone while driving it’s a $1,200 fine but if you’re an unlicensed, coke snorting tool who has a head-on crash that injures children then it is less than the fine for a marginal head-high tackle. I am disgusted.

He did get a light sentence but that's not rare at all or a race based thing and it's insane to say so, Go sit in a court and you'll see DUIs with everything but the crash or with it and people get similar treatment, It's a law issue more then anything but also someone on their first offence if rarely going to get smashed. The light punishment would purely be down to not thinking he will do it again, No previous record and If you show genuine remorse or at least seem to show it the courts do take that into consideration a lot and how the judge basically feels about these things, They might hate drugs or other things way more.

The police lawyer basically says what happened with their case and whether you were compliant or a pain in the ass and then Ezras lawyer would talk about what he's done and all the regret and turning his life around blah blah blah, It's not some OJ trial, It would've been less then 5 mins and unless the police at the scene and others have done some corrupt stuff, It's not as deep as people made it out, It sounds bad and is but these things aren't THAT rare and our driving laws are off balance with speeding and phone use and other bad things.

The reality is the law usually gives you even two times at least to **** up to a certain point, I'd like to see us bring in a fine system like Germany or some places in Europe where you cop a big % of your wage.

* I removed some posts that went beyond the boundaries of our forums rules.*

I think there are some topics we should tread carefully with and racial issues one of them. They can be hurtful and complicated. And they can be explosive and spiral out of control. If we make such comments and they are left, then we welcome them all the time and that would make the forum a mess.

It's one of those rare instances were we should be careful and find a better platform to discuss it on.

Our club has a proud indigenous history and we have heaps of fans who are or are passionate for it. It's not worth poisoning the well for a drive-by comment.

I think overwhelmingly people are upset and think that he is receiving privilege of being a professional footballer and having access to a stable of professionals.

Hope everyone understands and you can kick the boot into me if you aren't happy about it. PM or I'll give you my number.

Merry Christmas!

Mam, 21, pleaded guilty to driving while a relevant drug was present in his blood and driving without a licence in Brisbane magistrates court on Monday.
Those where the only 2 charges in this appearance he got and plead guilty to, He had already been fined for failure to keep his vehicle under control which is much less then dangerous driving which keeps being bought up. I believe this is actually sorted out of court in mediation which would be the 3 in the car so the fine/payout will probably be quite a bit bigger. The judge also said that the little girl escaped injury which isn't what has been said previously by media.

Driving under the influence of a drug If you're charged with driving under the influence of drugs, this is a more serious charge than a charge of having a relevant drug in your blood or saliva.
From legal aid QLD. That means that the blood test they were waiting on I'm guessing came back to say his levels weren't at a level to say he was high on anything at the time but the saliva test which can only detect it in your system is what they got him on, That makes it a lot different. Driving without a license, Isn't that big of a crime, Clark did it last year and got the same 6 month suspension with a $350 fine.

This isn't rare or preferential treatment, Anyone one of us if this was your first offence would cop similar punishment with maybe a difference in fine or months, They aren't ever going to smash you the first time. Even in the article with the "lawyer" and Dean Ritchie that is being pushed about not passing the pub test... He's an ex prosecutor + cop who is now a criminal defence lawyer.. https://mcgirrassoc.com/news-1/paul...player-franklin-elmes-in-drink-driving-matter
On his own site.... It's an impressive how much of a hypocrite/slimy lawyers can be.

Without the rage bait of saying he was driving crazy, That area where the crash was and the turn he was making is a known area for incidents and has a blind spot at the turn it happened. That's why the police didn't charge him with the phone BS or driving dangerously because it probably wasn't at all true ever, He very well might've just drove badly and fucked up but nothing malicious.

The media reporting on this honestly should be looked at more and is potentially malicious or at least very careless. We might see Ezra sue these organisations beause a lot of the stuff they've been saying or pushing sounds straight up not true at least from police accounts which matter most. The judge said it and it's very true while also dressing him down, He's been punished in the media and reputation compared to others even in the NRL this year who have done worse.

If we want to talk conspiracies, I'd suggest the newly elected LNP government trying to act tough on crime bringing it up and the laws is a way to make them larger which will hurt a lot more families and people going forward much more... Just a thought.

To add to that Birdy, I would never in a million years have thought that the fractious NRL judicial system would have had a better handle on appropriate penalties than the Laws of the Land … FMD and since when does the “pub test” hold greater credibility than than the word of a Judge? Double FMD with chili on it.

Today we learned that repeatedly driving without a license, with drugs in your system, breaking the hip of a little girl is only 1 week worse than humping a dog while not having a sexuality or doing a racism in Vegas.
