JTS TItans 2024

Certainly a tough outing in difficult conditions for the Titans last night but all good experience for the young men. Onto next year and an early 2025 match in Coffs Harbour against the Newcastle Knights.

There is a short video on the Titans facebook page for people that are interested.

Love how they finally made a video and we got pumped hahaha

Conditions looked horrendous. A lot of those Tigers boys would’ve played together in the Wests Magpies side that finished runner up in Harold Matts this year, they’re a decent team.

Still, sucks to get flogged after we flogged the Storm last week. Sounds like the tigers were just bigger and stronger and went through us.

I was right behind old mate, The whole game was very physical but the first half especially Titans were hanging in there and it was 8-0 I think at half time and both tries came off kicks and errors from our guys and Tigers held up a few tries for the Titans with some very good line defence. It only really blew out at around 55 mins or so where they scored a couple of quality long range tries, Their props were a lot more filled out compared to Villiami for example but I don't know what the hell they are feeding some of these kids who are absolute units.

I think it was poor Leo Briggs (Whoever was at left centre in the second half) but he got hit with one of the best tackles I've seen in years, If his ribs aren't broken he's lucky, he got cut in half that hard..... Got up and played the ball but he was not well and had to go off I think, Jyah White had just been subbed down the end and said to someone on the fence he was stoked that wasn't him, Was good stuff.

Was impressed when they scored their 2nd try and Bilish was talking in the huddle about winning the contact and Don let him talk most of it, I think 3rd tackle off the kick off he absolutely smashes a big unit to force a knock on, Was awesome to see.

It very much looked like a spine that had barely played together, Tigers kids were the real deal though and like you mentioned, Looked like a well oiled machine and especially defensively as a team really worked well in all areas which for kids was very impressive.

One of the TBDs from the Storm teamlist and played both games is Cortez Kirkpatrick from Norths CC (fullback), NZ union enjoyers would probably know his dad Daniel.

He looks more like Reece Walsh then Reece Walsh.

He was the No. 16 I believe in the Storm game, He looks very good on his feet, electric if you will.

His dad is Daniel Kirkpatrick?? I watched a heap of him from when he was playing in Wellington. Had no idea

After the Norths Devils had a Round One bye Cortez Fitzpatrick started at fullback in Round Two of the CC Cup against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls with Cortez Fitzpatrick scoring in the 38th minute when after running out of dummy half to his left seven metres from the try line and shaping to pass in the same direction Cortez Fitzpatrick stepped off his left foot and carried two defenders over the try line to get the ball down ten metres in from the left corner post.

Inside the opening minute of the match and after taking a Seagulls kick on the full two metres from his own try line and ten metres in from the right touchline Cortez Fitzpatrick ran to his left towards the centre of the field as he got the ball out to the eighteen metre mark before being hit high and being awarded a penalty. Then in the 18th minute from the right of the play the ball Cortez Fitzpatrick carried the ball through the centre of the field from twenty to thirty one metres from his try line after stepping off both feet.

Cortez Fitzpatrick ran out of dummy half to his left in the 19th minute with his yardage carry getting him from ten to twenty metres from the try line and then in the 60th minute after a lost Wynnum Manly ball Cortez Fitzpatrick received the ball forty metres from his try line and immediately ran to his left and after a counter clockwise spun beat one defender Cortez Fitzpatrick carried the ball five metres inside the Seagulls half.
