In late 2024 Mason Broadhurst was named in the 2025 Central Queensland Capra’s U19 MM Cup squad.
The young fullback/centre currently attends the Titans partnered Rockhampton Grammar School.

After Rockhampton Grammar School had a School Boy Rugby League Dolphins Cup bye Mason Broadhurst started fullback in Round Two against the Cathedral College with Mason Broadhurst scoring in the 35th minute when after chasing through a Callum Denham left foot chip from twenty metres out Mason Broadhurst took advantage of confusion amongst Cathedral College to collect the ball on the bounce whilst spinning counter clockwise to score eight metres in from the left corner post.

After taking a Cathedral College kick on the full in the 8th minute in the centre of the field and twenty metres from his try line Mason Broadhurst returned the ball out to the forty three metre mark and then in the 23rd minute after taking a Cathedral College kick on the bounce twenty metres from his try line Mason Broadhurst returned the ball to thirty seven metres out.

In the 10th minute from the right of the play the ball Mason Broadhurst did well to run the ball from thirty four metres from his try line to within three metres of the halfway mark.

Mason Broadhurst also started at fullback in Round Three against Shalom College and in the 40th minute from the right of the play the ball Mason Broadhurst ran the ball from thirty metres to forty one metres from the try line. Then in the 45th minute a Mason Broadhurst yardage carry from the left of a Rockhampton Grammar School scrum win saw the ball carried from five metres to eighteen metres from the try line.

Mason Broadhurst continued at fullback in Round Four against Emmaus College with Mason Broadhurst scoring in the 8th minute with an effort from the left of the play the ball and five metres from the try line to get the ball down ten metres in from the left corner post.

Mason Broadhurst also recorded a line break from a kick return in the 7th minute when after taking an Emmaus College clearing kick on the full seven metres out from his try line and in his left corner Mason Broadhurst got to twenty seven metres from his try line and then got rid of defenders with three right arm fends and then charged down the left touchline to get within thirty two metres of the try line at the opposite end of the field.

Mason Broadhurst made an additional line break in the 24th minute from another strong kick return when after taking another clearing kick on the full ten metres from his try line and in front of the posts Mason Broadhurst broke two tackles as he ran to his left to get to the left sideline with Mason Broadhurst getting to the halfway mark before being awarded a penalty after he was held down by the Emmaus College fullback for too long.

Inside the opening minute of the match Mason Broadhurst had taken a kick on the full eighteen metres from his try line and returned the ball to thirty eight metres out and then in the 6th minute Mason Broadhurst ran the ball through the centre of the field from the left of the play the ball from nine metres from his try line to twenty metres out.

Mason Broadhurst also started at fullback in Round Five against St Brendan’s College Yeppoon and in the 32nd minute after stepping off his right foot Mason Broadhurst carried the ball to within four metres of the try line near the corner after a right foot step twenty two metres out left the St Brendan’s right winger clutching at thin air after Mason Broadhurst had chased through an attacking bomb and taken the ball on the full. Also in the 44th minute after taking a clearing kick on the full on his own try line and just to the right of the posts Mason Broadhurst brought the ball back to the twenty one metre mark.

Mason Broadhurst continued at fullback in Rockhampton Grammar School’s Dolphins Cup semi-final against the Cathedral College and in the 7th minute Mason Broadhurst made a try saving tackle when he raced to his right and tackled the Cathedral College left winger over the touchline less than a metre from the corner post.

Mason Broadhurst also did well in the 47th minute to collect a Cathedral College grubber kick just in the field of play in his right corner under pressure and return the ball to the twenty metre mark.


Mason Broadhurst started at fullback for Rockhampton Grammar School in the School Boy Rugby League 2024 Dolphins Cup Grand Final against St Brendan’s College Yeppoon with Mason Broadhurst scoring an outstanding solo try in the 46th minute when after chiming into the backline two passes to the left of the play the ball Mason Broadhurst burst through a gap still five metres inside his half and outpaced the cover defence before throwing a dummy to his left to beat the St Brendan’s College fullback to race away to score ten metres to the left of the goal posts.

The 8th minute saw Mason Broadhurst run the ball out to the twenty metre mark and take a quick tap and break a tackle as he ran the ball through the centre of the field to the forty metre mark. Mason Broadhurst also did well in the 36th minute when after picking up a St Brendan’s College knock on three metres from his try line and near the centre of the field Mason Broadhurst ran to his left and was able to beat two defenders to get the ball out to the twenty metre mark.

Mason Broadhurst did well defensively in the 31st minute when he made a strong one on one ball and all tackle after a St Brendan’s College line break through the centre of the field with Mason Broadhurst smartly not falling for a dummy half and hitting the player with the ball. Mason Broadhurst made an additional try saving tackle in the 51st minute with a strong ball and all tackle on his own try line and five metres to the right of the goal posts to prevent the St Brendan’s College right centre from scoring.


2024 also saw Mason Broadhurst part of the Rockhampton Grammar School including starting at fullback and kicking a conversion in Rockhampton Grammar School’s second match on Day One of the 2024 Confraternity Shield against The Cathedral College.

Mason Broadhurst also started at fullback for Rockhampton Grammar School on the final day of the 2024 Confraternity Shield against St Peter Claver College with Mason Broadhurst scoring in a strong Rockhampton Grammar School 20 – 0 victory.

In late 2023 Mason Broadhurst was named in the 2024 Central Queensland Capra’s U17 Cyril Connell Cup Squad.

Round Four of the U17 CC Cup competition saw Mason Broadhurst start on the left wing for the Central Queensland Capra’s against the Mackay Cutters with Mason Broadhurst scoring in the 56th minute when after the ball was spun from a Capra’s scrum win on the opposite side of the field Mason Broadhurst received the ball eighteen metres out from his own try line with Mason Broadhurst then getting on the outside of his opposite winger to race away down the left touchline to score untouched ten metres in from the left corner post.

In 2024 Mason Broadhurst continued to play for Brothers Blue in the Rockhampton Junior Rugby League U17 competition with Mason Broadhurst primarily lining up at fullback with Mason Broadhurst scoring in Round Five against Yeppoon.

 
Will Picken started at right second row for the Mullumbimby Giants in Round Fifteen of the NRRRL U18 competition against the Kyogle Turkeys with Will Picken scoring in a double in a high scoring 34 all draw.

Will Picken scored his opening try in the 3rd minute after running an inside shoulder line wide on the right side of the field from thirteen metres out and crashed through three attempted tackles including a counter clockwise spin to score six metres to the right of the posts.

Will Picken completed his double in the 55th minute when from the right of a Mullumbimby scrum win fourteen metres from the try line in front of the posts Will Picken ran over the top of one defender and carried three more over the try line to slam the ball down next to the left goal post.

In the 10th minute from the left of the play the ball Will Picken carried the ball from thirty to forty two metres from the try line and then a tackle later from the left of the play the ball Will Picken ran the ball through the centre of the field from forty to thirteen metres from the try line including breaking a tackle with 80% of his metres being post contact. Also in the 20th minute from the left of the play the ball Will Picken also ran through the centre of the field from the halfway to thirty metres from the try line.

From the left of a Giants scrum win in the 28th minute Will Picken ran the ball from eighteen to within seven metres of the try line in front of the posts and then in the 34th minute from the left of the play the ball Will Picken carried the ball through the centre of the field from thirty to ten metres from the try line after running straight over the top of two defenders.

In the 45th minute Will Picken ran the ball through the centre of the field from eighteen to thirty seven metres from the try line breaking three tackles and then a tackle later also from the right of the play the ball Will Picken broke two more tackles as he ran from forty metres from his try line to the halfway. Also in the 50th minute Will Picken broke another tackle as he ran from thirty five metres from his try line to the halfway mark.
 
Kaleb Smith came off the bench to operate at dummy half for the Murwillumbah Mustangs at half time of Round Fifteen of the NRRRL First Grade competition against the Northern United and in the 42nd minute Kaleb Smith ran to his left of out dummy half to run the ball through the centre of the field from twenty two to thirty four metres from his try line. Kaleb Smith ran out of dummy half to his left in the 61st minute to carry the ball from thirty seven metres from his try line to three metres into Northern United’s half.
 
Elliott Farrell continued on the right wing for the Byron Bay Devils in Round Fifteen of the NRRRL First Grade competition against the Evans Head Bombers with Elliott Farrell kicking a conversion.

In the 7th minute after running out of dummy half to his right Elliott Farrell was able to make eleven metres to get the ball out to the twenty three metre mark. Also in the 25th minute after Elliott Farrell was on hand to take an attempted kick for touch from a Bombers penalty on the full on the right touchline and ten metres from his try line Elliott Farrell easily beat one defender and then ran the ball down the right touchline to the twenty six metre mark.

Elliott Farrell did well defensively in the 9th minute to chase down an Evans Head line break by No. 16 to bring him down from behind just three metres from the try line.
 
Luke Jones started at left second row for the Currumbin Eagles in Round Fifteen of the GCRL U18 Division One competition against the Helensvale Hornets and in the 24th minute from the left of a Currumbin penalty restart Luke Jones carried the ball from twenty to thirty two metres from the try line.

Luke Jones made a huge front on tackle in the 12th minute when he smashed his opposite number thirty metres from the try line with Luke Jones also making the next tackle from the marker position.
 
Zac Kumbamong continued in the front row for the Helensvale Hornets in Round Fifteen GCRL U18 Division One competition against the Currumbin Eagles and in the 3rd minute Zac Kumbamong ran an underneath line to the right of the play the ball to carry the ball through the centre of the field from thirty to twenty metres from the try line.

Zac Kumbamong came close to scoring in the 4th minute when after a five metre charge to the right of the play the ball Zac Kumbamong got over the try line only to be forced back into the field of play by four Eagles defenders. Zac Kumbamong almost set up a Hornets try in the 14th minute when after a dumping run to his left that saw him break three tackles Zac Kumbamong threw a great right arm off-load to his fullback eight metres out in space but unfortunately the fullback lost his footing with the try line wide open.

In the 24th minute from the left of the play the ball Zac Kumbamong carried the ball from thirty to forty three metres from the try line and in the 31st minute after running an underneath line two passes to the right of the play the ball Zac Kumbamong ran from thirty five to forty five metres from the try line. Then in the 38th minute from the right of the play the ball and thirty five metres from the try line Zac Kumbamong was able to make ten metres. Also from the right of the play the ball in the 55th minute Zac Kumbamong carried the ball from thirty to forty four metres from the try line.
 
Amarni Wetini-Ngaropo continued at five eight for the Burleigh Bears in Round Sixteen of the GCRL U20 competition against the Runaway Bay Seagulls with Amarni Wetini-Ngaropo scoring in the 64th minute when after receiving the ball two passes to the right of the play the ball Amarni Wetini-Ngaropo ran the ball from twenty to sixteen metres from the try line before putting in a right foot grubber kick which he retrieved to score a great solo try eleven metres in from the right corner post.
 
Rockhampton Grammar School's Josh Claridge who attended a Titans JTS camp on the Gold Coast earlier this year is currently in New Zealand and will play for Rugby Skills Academy Barbarian 7's who are competing in the Global Youth Sevens Tournament that kicks off tomorrow in Auckland.
 
Junior Filimaua continued off the bench for the Tugun Seahawks in Round Fifteen of the GCRL First Grade competition against the Southport Tigers and after coming onto the field in the 20th minute to operate at right second row Junior Filimaua scored in the 26th minute when after receiving the ball from Jake Lateo four metres from the try line Junior Filimaua ran to his left and after stepping off his right foot to beat one defender Junior Filimaua brought the ball around to score under the posts.

In the 39th minute from a Tugun penalty restart thirty metres from the try line Junior Filimaua was able to make thirteen metres and then in the 67th minute from the left of the play the ball Junior Filimaua ran the ball from thirty three to forty six metres from the try line.

Junior Filimaua also did well defensively when in the 66th minute along with Jake Lateo and Tanu Nona he held up the Southport hooker over the try line ten metres to the right of the posts after he had tried to force his way over the try line from close range out of dummy half.
 
Banjora Porch started in the front row for the Byron Bay Devils in Round Sixteen of the NRRRL U18 competition against the Cudgen Hornets and inside the opening minute from the right of a penalty restart Banjora Porch carried the ball through the centre of the field form forty eight to thirty six metres from the try line.

From the left of the play the ball in the 8th minute Banjora Porch broke four tackles with a superb run from sixteen to within a metre of the try line ten metres to the left of the posts. Then in the 5th minute also from the left of the play the ball Banjora Proch carried the ball from eight metres inside his half to eight metres into the Hornets.

In his second stint on the field in the 37th minute Banjora Proch ran the ball from two passes to the right of a Devils penalty restart to get from forty metres from his try line to thirteen metres inside Cuegen territory, breaking three tackles along the way. Also in the 42nd minute from the left of the play the ball Banjora Porch broke three more tackles in a run through the centre of the field from twenty to six metres from the try line before getting a right arm off-load away to his left.
 
Jimmy McCombie, even though he was wearing the No. 14 jersey started at five eight for the Byron Bay Devils in Round Sixteen of the NRRRL U18 competition against the Cudgen Hornets with Jimmy McCombie scoring in the 45th minute when after receiving an off-load from his team mate nine metres from the try line with Jimmy McCombie running to his right and stepping off both his right and left foot to dive over to score three metres to the left of the posts.

Jimmy McCombie also recorded a try assist in the 11th minute when from the right of a Devils scrum win Jimmy McCombie pushed away from one defender fourteen metres from the try line and running to within ten metres of the try line before throwing a cut-out pass to his right to put his winger over to score in the right corner.

In the 9th minute from the right of the play the ball Jimmy McCombie stepped off his right foot on three occasions to beat three defenders as he moved the ball from forty five to twenty metres from the try line. Then in the 16th minute after taking a Hornets kick on the full twenty six metres out and in from of his posts Jimmy McCombie was able to return the ball to the halfway. Also in the 17th minute from the right of the play the ball Jimmy McCombie stepped his way to within a metre of the try line in front of the left post from twenty metres out.
 
Kaleb Smith moved to lock for the Murwillumbah Mustangs in Round Sixteen of the NRRRL U18 competition against the Tweed Coast Raiders with Kaleb Smith making a line break in the 39th minute by way of a superb burst from the right of the play the ball from thirty metres from his own try line with Kaleb Smith breaking an impressive five tackles as he surged fifteen metres inside the Raiders territory.

After making the fourth hit-up of the match from two passes to the right of the play the ball to run from thirty to forty two metres from the try line (getting a penalty for being held down) Kaleb Smith, in the 3rd minute from the right of the play the ball saw him get the ball from forty to thirty metres from the try line.

The 12th minute saw Kaleb Smith run the ball from the right of the play the ball through the centre of the field from fourteen to twenty eight metres from the try line. Also in the 18th minute from the right of the play the ball and after cutting back to his left Kaleb Smith carried the ball from thirty four to forty six metres from the try line.
 
Jyah White started on the right wing for the Helensvale Hornets in the GCRL U18 Division One Grand Final against the Southport Tigers and in the 16th minute after taking possession of a pass from his left on the first bounce near the left touchline thirty metres from his own try line Jyah White beat two defender with the same amount of right foot steps to run the ball to within four metres of the halfway mark.
 
Cai Garrett has been one of the best junior rugby league/rugby/rugby Seven's players in Northern NSW over the last season or two and it is a certainly that he will make an impact for the Northern Rivers Titans U16 Andrew Johns Cup side in 2025, the only question is whether he starts at centre, fullback or five eight. Regardless Cai Garrett will make a positive impact.
 
Elliott Farrell started on the right wing for the Byron Bay Devils in Round Sixteen of the NRRRL First Grade competition against the Cudgen Hornets with Elliott Farrell kicking the first of his two conversions in the 19th minute from ten metres to the left of the posts and then kicked his second in the 70th minute from mid-way between the goal posts and corner post on the left side of the field.

In the 7th minute from the left of the play the ball and ten metres from his try line Elliott Farrell did well to carry the ball to twenty metres out and then in the 13th minute after taking a Hornets kick on the full near the right touchline and thirty four metres from his try line Elliott Farrell ran towards the centre of the field before straightening up and getting the ball three metres into the Hornets territory. Also in the 17th minute Elliott Farrell broke a tackle during a run out of dummy half to his left to run the ball from fourteen to twenty six metres from his try line.
 
Jye Watton started at left second row for the Burleigh Bears in the Gold Coast Rugby League U18 Division One Elimination Final against the Beaudesert Kingfishers with Jye Watton involved in the opening tackle of the match with Oscar Laffranchi.

In the 4th minute after running an underneath line to the right of the play the ball Jye Watton ran the ball through the centre of the field from thirty to forty one metres from the try line. Then in the 6th minute a Jye Watton hard straight charge saw him move the ball from twenty to within nine metres of the try line. Also in the 51st minute after running an underneath line to the left of the play the ball Jye Watton broke a tackles with approximately 75% of the metres post contact as he carried the ball from twenty four to ten metres from the try line.

Jye Watton did well defensively in the 7th minute to chase down his opposing second rower from behind forcing a poor pass four metres from the try line to save a near certain Beaudesert try.
 
Oscar Laffranchi started in the front row for the Burleigh Bears in the Gold Coast Rugby League U18 Division One Elimination Final against the Beaudesert Kingfishers with Oscar Laffranchi involved in the opening tackle of the match with Jye Watton.

Oscar Laffranchi scored in the 43rd minute when after starting to the right of the play the ball Oscar Laffranchi cut to his left taking the ball off the dummy half behind the play the ball seven metres out and crashing over to score five metres in from the right corner post.

Oscar Laffranchi came close to scoring a second try in the 51st minute only to be held up over the try line twelve metres to the left of the posts after a eight metre charge.

Oscar Laffranchi ran the ball through the centre of the field from the right of the play the ball in the 4th minute from thirty to forty metres from the try line. Then in the 8th minute also from the right of the play the ball and thirty metres from the try line Oscar Laffranchi got within twenty metres, Also in the 6th minute from the right of the play the ball once again Oscar Laffranchi broke a tackle with 75% of his metres post contact with a run that saw the ball move from forty to twenty two metres from the try line.

Oscar Laffranchi ran an underneath line to the right of the play the ball through the centre of the field in the 10th minute from the forty metre mark to the halfway after breaking a tackle. From the left of the play the ball in the 14th minute after running from six metres inside his half to four metres into the Kingfishers, Oscar Laffranchi was able to get a right arm off-load away to his left to his front row partner.

To the left of the play the ball in the 45th minute Oscar Laffranchi made twelve metres from his own twenty eight metre mark and then in the 51st minute also from the left of the play the ball an Oscar Laffranchi charge saw the ball promoted from thirty six to twenty two metres from the try line.
