Chase Penna who made his CC Cup debut at hooker for Tweed Heads last week has been named at hooker for the Tugun Seahawks in Round One of the 2025 GCRL U18 Division One competition against Runaway Bay tomorrow.
 
Great to see Juwan Compain back on the Gold Coast and he will start on the bench for Currumbin today in Round One of the GCRL FIrst Grade competition against the Southport Tigers.
 
I am looking forward to see Christian Faigame start at lock tomorrow for the Tweed Heads Seagulls NRRRL U18 side in Round One against the Mullumbimby Giants.
 
Brock Lennox has been named on the bench tomorrow for Runaway Bay in Round One of the GCRL U20 competition against Beaudesert.
 
Zander Phillips has moved over to the Gold Coast to attend Keebra Park SHS and will start in the second row for Runaway Bay in Round One of the GCRL U18 Division One competition today against Tugun.

He had strong representative career in both rugby and rugby league before his arrival on the Gold Coast.

Noah Reti continued off the bench for the Tweed Heads Seagulls in the Round Six of the CC Cup in the local derby against the Burleigh Bears and came on later in the first half to play in the front row.

Noah Reti made his initial run not long after coming onto the field in the 27th minute from the right of the play the ball to carry the ball from thirty eight metres from his try line through the centre of the field to the halfway. Then in the 28th minute from a Tweed Heads penalty restart Noah Reti ran from twenty two to eleven metres from the try line.

In the 31st minute from the left of the play the ball Noah Reti ran from twenty to thirty metres from the try line and then a minute later from the left of the play the ball Noah Reti got the ball to within four metres of the halfway after making eleven metres. Also in the 34th minute ran from the left of the play the ball from forty five to thirty three metres from the try line.

Tavake Tau’a’alo continued from the bench for the Burleigh Bears in the Round Six MM Cup local derby against the Tweed Heads Seagulls and after coming onto the field to operate in the front row late in the first half Tavake Tau’a’alo, in the 37th minute from the left of the play the ball carried the ball through the centre of the field from forty metres from his try line to ten metres inside Seagulls territory. Also from the left of the play the ball in the 40th minute Tavake Tau’a’alo ran the ball from thirty to forty six metres from his try line, breaking a tackle along the way.

Tavake Tau’a’alo did well defensively in the 52nd minute when he was involved in holding up the Tweed Heads dummy half (No. 14) over the try line under the posts.
 
Cruz Dangerfield continued at right second row for the Tweed Heads Seagulls in the Round Six MM Cup local derby against the Burleigh Bears with Cruz Dangerfield making a line break in the 10th minute when after cleanly picking up a Burleigh lost ball seven metres from his try line Cruz Dangerfield rumbled downfield down the right channel to two metres inside Burleigh territory.

Cruz Dangerfield ran the ball down the right channel in the 20th minute from thirty to eighteen metres from the try line and then in the 33rd minute after receiving an off-load Cruz Dangerfield ran down the right channel from thirty to forty three metres from his try line.
 
Jaylon Russell started at fullback for the Northern Rivers Titans in the 2025 U16 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final against the Newcastle Maitland Knights with Jaylon Russell recording a try assist in the 24th minute when after chiming into the Northern Rivers backline wide on the left Jaylon Russell ran from twenty to ten metres from the try line moving to his left and dragged in the Newcastle right winger and off-loaded to his left to put Jay Walpole over to score in the left corner.

From a twenty metre tap restart in the 45th minute Jaylon Russell ran from the ball out to the thirty three metre mark after breaking a tackle.
 
Jay Walpole started on the left wing for the Northern Rivers Titans in the 2025 U16 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final against the Newcastle Maitland Knights with Jay Walpole scoring the first of his two tries in the 24th minute when after a pass from his inside from Jaylon Russell Jay Walpole raced ten metres down the left touchline to score in the left corner.

Jay Walpole completed his double in the 52nd minute when after Eden Humphries threw a cut-out pass towards the wing Jay Walpole wanted the contested ball more than his opposing winger to take the pass and run ten metres down the touchline and after being hit by two defenders Jay Walpole was able to reach out with his right arm and get the ball down in the left corner.

Jay Walpole also made a line break in the 55th minute when after receiving a pass from his inside from George Morgan Jay Walpole made a line break down the left touchline from thirty metres from his try line to four metres into the Knights half.

Also in the 38th minute from two passes to the left of a Northern Rivers scrum win Jay Walpole did well to get the ball from twelve to twenty four metres from his try line. Then in the 47th minute from the right of a Titans scrum win Jay Walpole ran through the centre of the field from fifteen to twenty seven metres from the try line.

Jay Walpole made a try saving tackle in just the 4th minute of the match with a great ball and all tackle on his opposing winger just two metres from the try line in the left corner with Jay Walpole stopping the momentum of his much bigger opponent and with the assistance of Jesse Cooper and Jaylon Russell, Jay Walpole then dragged the winger into touch.

 
Jesse Cooper started at left centre for the Northern Rivers Titans in the 2025 U16 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final against the Newcastle Maitland Knights and in the 20th minute from the left of a Northern Rivers scrum win Jesse Cooper ran from four metres from his try line to fourteen metres out.

In the 32nd minute from two passes to the left of the play the ball Jesse Cooper carried the ball from forty three to thirty three metres from the try line and then in the 48th minute from the right of the play the ball Jesse Cooper made a strong thirteen metres from thirty three metres from his try line.
 
Parker Kemister started at right centre for the Northern Rivers Titans in the 2025 U16 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final against the Newcastle Maitland Knights with Parker Kemister kicking a superb conversion from the left touchline in the 24th minute to convert Jay Walpole’s try.

In the 10th minute Parker Kemister ran the ball down the right channel from thirty nine metres from his try line to the halfway mark.

Parker Kemister did well in the 7th minute when along with Julean Woods, he tackled the Newcastle left winger two metres from the try line off a Dallas Russell chip kick, holding him up and then dragging him over the right touchline.
 
Julean Woods started on the right wing for the Northern Rivers Titans in the 2025 U16 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final against the Newcastle Maitland Knights with Julean Woods racing down the right touchline in the 21st minute from eight metres inside his half to seven metres into the Knights off a pass from his inside by Parker Kemister.

From the right of a Northern Rivers scrum win in the 32nd minute Julean Woods ran the ball through the centre of the field to get from six metres inside his half to five metres into Newcastle’s and then in the 56th minute Julean Woods ran through the centre of the field from the right of a Northern Rivers scrum win to move the ball from six to sixteen metres from the try line.

Julean Woods did well in the 7th minute when along with Parker Kemister, he tackled the Newcastle left winger two metres from the try line off a Dallas Russell chip kick, holding him up and then dragging him over the right touchline.
 
Eden Humphries started at five eight for the Northern Rivers Titans in the 2025 U16 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final against the Newcastle Maitland Knights with Eden Humphries recording a try assist in the 52nd minute with a long twenty metre cut out pass to his left from ten metres out for Jay Walpole to score in the left corner.

Eden Humphries ran down a short left blindside in the 44th minute breaking two tackles to run the ball from forty to nineteen metres from the try line.
 
Dallas Russell started at halfback and captain for the Northern Rivers Titans in the 2025 U16 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final against the Newcastle Maitland Knights with Dallas Russell kicking a 40/20 in the 34th minute with a low driving left foot strike from the left of the play the ball and thirty seven metres from his try line in the centre of the field with the ball bouncing over the left touchline just inside the twenty metre mark.

Earlier in the 26th minute Dallas Russell had come close to kicking a 40/20 with a great left foot kick from the left of the play the ball thirty four metres from the try line with the ball bouncing over the left touchline twenty one metres from the try line.

Dallas Russell’s elite kicking game was on song as early as the 7th minute when from the left of the dummy half and twenty two metres from the try line Dallas Russell put in a left foot chip kick to the right corner with the ball coming down two metres from the try line and after the Knights right winger took the ball he was immediately taken into touch by Parker Kemsiter and Julean Woods.
