Pre-Season Challenge 2025 DOLPHINS vs TITANS Match Thread.

As much as Kelly makes me want to kick rocks with open toed shoes, he really is goos at pumping the legs and making yardage out of our own end

Well, some hope restored after last week that the team of fullbacks could work if the forwards go forward well

Much better performance

Pretty sure Foran can't start for us anymore there just isn't room. Hope he's okay though

I've been low on Jayden's chances as 7 but it could work who knows

MUCH better than last week. Get that one into ya lads!

By the way, want to point out that our boys went the full 80 playing the ball with their feet. Yes, even Moe. Moe was actually playing with his foot on every play the ball.

Player Rating:

14. Keano Kini 8.5 Involved in everything, the motor on him is incredible
3. Jojo Fifita 7 Rock solid in defence and in yardage. I still think his best position for the team is right centre to keep Sami on the reserve list
4. Phillip Sami 6.5 Solid but he is a backup option for centre for mine
16. Brian Kelly 7 Only one brain fade
5. Tony Francis 5.5 Lost his legs in the second half
6. AJ Brimson 7.5 He has been leading the effort on kick chases in the first half. When the forwards get a roll on watching him push up in support is a thing of beauty
18. Jayden Campbell 8 Controlled the game a lot better than any of us could have expected. Loved the variety in his last tackle option
8. Moeaki Fotuaika 6
9. Sam Verrills 7 Cops a lot of flack on here but his service off the deck today was on point and a big part in our ability to attack the edges from side to side
10. Jaimin Jolliffe 6.5 Dependable
12. Beau Fermor 7 Great hole running and decoys can still improve on the other side of the ball
17. Klese Haas 6 Defends so much better in the middle than he does on an edge had some crucial offloads as well
15. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui 8.5 Hard to fault him with the intent he has brought back to his return game but that goal line miss was bad.
1. Jaylan De Groot 5.5 Solid but couldn't convert some half chances
2. Allan Fitzgibbon 7 Could be found out in defence at times but can hold his head high in these two games and for mine he has jumped Francis
7. Kieran Foran 4 Not his fault but I don't love the idea of using him as a middle forward in rotation
13. Chris Randall 5.5 Solid but I would like to see him link more in the middle rather than cart the ball forward
11. David Fifita 6.5 I wish he would run with the same intensity as Josiah Pahulu. I can't believe he used his shoulder in a tackle was much better in the second half
20. Josiah Pahulu 6 Always brings energy off the bench has earnt his spot. Ugly head clash, I hope he is okay
21. Tom Weaver 5 Not his best work in limited game time
22. Brock Gray 6.5 Brought some real starch when he came on to the right edge

What do I know? Aidan Sezer is a top 3 Halfback in our clubs history

One thing not counted for with JC moving to 7 is he doesn't feel pressure like others and seems as calm as they come, I don't think him moving to 7 would be a big deal to him compared to most others, I reckon he just sees it as the next challenge where as it is a bourdon to most and I think he showed way more potential at 5/8th then fullback in the limited games.

For every skill and everything else, Not being afraid of anything on a footy field might be the biggest and I don't think JC is able to scared, Add his skillset and how the NRL is heading with the top halves running 20 times or so a game when it gets tight, He's perfect for it imo. I think he has the best chance out of all of the recent ones despite not ever being one.

Key points:
- Offloads were a plenty tonight, and majority in all the right places too.
- We were winning our tackles, and had way less ineffective tackles than last week. Albeit missed tackles are our kryptonite (had 30 tonight), it was better than last week.
- Completion rate 39/44. Less errors tonight with ball handling.
- Our Discipline was much more better than last week. We only conceded 2 inside 10m, ZERO Ruck infringements. Need to apply that type of discipline to the regular season.
- Kick pressure was great. Verrils kicking out of dummy is something I need to see more this year.

All round a great bounce back from the absolute crash out that was last week. Now, we can spend the next few weeks preparing for what may make or break our 2025 - Belmore.
