ROUND 11: TITANS vs SHARKS (2022)

We need Foran here ASAP. 7 and 9 are the issue.

Disagree with 7, first year player, short kicking games has been improving, we are getting red starts, his defence is improving.
Clark is a 14
I think coaching of the ruck is a issue for us. We have nil moves from dummy half, nil short side raids. Makes us predictable in attack which doesn’t help our 7 and 6.

Sharks were very impressive. That second half was a very complete performance. Credit to them for adapting so well. Their points, you can't argue with them and they came with some from some great hands, big cut out pass and speed.

  • JC continued to have sticky hands and showed bravey. Good to have him back.
  • AJ went a bit quiet in the second.
  • Nice for them to call that a sharks knock on after they run 70m in the wet lol
  • Wallace's try was marvellous. Multitalented to grab that, secure it and navigate to the line.
  • But still a few trademark moments from him, What Wallace giveth he can sometimes taketh away. Still value his contribution to the field.
  • Bloody hell. That rain. Sharks were very good at getting out of their in-goals and throwing us over the sidelines. We probably need to work on our wet weather strategy along side out field goal game.
  • Really bad sportsmanship by Hynes. Really hang on far too long. But that's gamesmanship I guess. Should be a bigger punishment for that.
  • Also agree with thoughts about experimenting with the lock position.
  • So when is David Fifita back?

Nico Hynes decided my supercoach team wasn't doing poorly enough with that sin bin.

He was my captain aaahhhhhh.

We are in a big hole and it is going to take a lot to dig us out. It is more than just Sexton or Clarke. Our defence is too passive and it kills us. We have do get more assertive in defence and start dictating to teams how they play.

Having said that...I did watch up until about 15 minutes or so into that second half, that's when the rot started and that's when we lost the game. Sharks were just rolling down the field every set, early kicks into space, quick play the balls in our end by their forwards which allowed their spine into the game much more.

I've been calling for Mcintyre to get a run but from what I saw from him last week and this week, very underwhelming to say the least. Sam Lisone is useless apart from one or two strong hit-ups a game. Erin Clarke is such a slow, average hooker who wouldn't get a starting spot at most other clubs. Kelly's edge definitely looked better without him.

I agree that this is the place to start to solve out problems. Focus on repeat sets. May not be glamourous.

On the other hand JC doesn't do conservative and good on him for it.

We showed in the last 10 when we have field position we can still create pressure and put points on. Thought our 7 was amongst a lot of our good things, as was our 1.

The issue is we conceded 3 tries in 10 minutes and the reason we got dominated in that period was largely due to some persisting issues - effort play, losing the ruck (and failing to set our A markers, scrambling our ruck D). Their 9 & 7 saw it and started nailing us with some variation to test lazy inside pressure and it compounded our troubles. For some reason Liu gets meme’d by a few on here for his value being good at the wrestle and defensively efficient but when you see what he brings in the ruck compared to McIntyre, Ese’ese and Lisone...it makes a huge difference.

Any news on Sami’s injury? Was pretty happy with his contribution again tonight

How can Holbrook watch Brailey absolutely tear us up the middle of the ruck, looking like he is playing touch footy with his scoots and just constantly putting us on the backfoot, and then think yep lets keep picking Clark at 9. Hooker HAS to be addressed or we will never be a competitive side. How did Booth go in Qcup this weekend?

Liu definitely on the improve. And I ask the forum to keep a closer eye on what he has been doing for us.

On the improve, I would expect a 200 + player to hit the ground running. No impact in attack, cannot remember any tackles breaks. While his tackle count might be high I cannot remember any tackle that has caused damage or an error.
Roosters don’t let players with miles left in the tank go.
His spot is better going to an upcomer rather than a past his best player.

I’m starting to warm to Clarke in 13. Tino can do what he does from any middle position. Sami deserves his place on the left wing but he is not a centre.
