ROUND 11: TITANS vs SHARKS (2022)

Can you clarify what you mean by exit-set work? You are right about his size, but I think his skill and tenacity can make up for it. Longer term, I think I'd like him back at 6 when Foran retires (or is inevitably injured...) so 23/24 may be a learning period for both AJ and Sexton.

When the wingers and centres take hit ups coming out of your own half, when the team is pinned down on their own line. Even though Talakai hasn't been as dangerous in recent weeks his hitups to get the team out of trouble have been fantastic, it's hard to imagine AJ doing that at centre.

Ah yeah, for sure. If we have Sami and Marzhew in the team then that would make up for AJ's weak hit-ups.

The only concern with AJ at centre is size in terms of both height and weight. Having a small centre outside a small half will have large edge forwards and centres going down there all day and there will be difficulty wrapping up the ball on a consistent basis particularly on the line. It may be what their thinking and don’t doubt he would go well at centre but I have huge doubts for that side of defence.

The Titans website has AJ listed as 181 cm/89 kg and Brian Kelly as 181 cm/94 kg. Dylan Brown, a player who has switched between 5/8 and centre this season, is listed on the Eels website as 183 cm/84 kg.

To be honest I think if we had AJ, Foran and Fermor defending together on the left edge it would be the best defensive edge we have had in a long long time.

AJ is a 14 can play anywhere if need be Foran will not solve the problem he will only be good for about 7 game the rest he will be in retirement mode
What this team really needs is a HOOKER a true number 9

I'm really loving the discussion in this thread and it's great to see it carry on. Lots of ideas and fleshed out.

My 2023 would also be.

1. JC. 6. Foran 7. Sexton. Not sure if I missed the discussion (I did try to skim read a couple pages) but what how about Brimson at hooker?

I don't see such discussion as desperate but a real point of debate since we have Foran coming.

If I could pick one position and grab one player instantly. It would be a classy hooker.

I'm not sure about AJ at 9 as I'm not convinced he has the passing game for it. I see him as strictly a backline member and too good to play 14. That would be a waste of talent and would probably lead to him leaving the club.

One left field option is that maybe Foran has been signed to play 9. In that case, the rest of the spine would probably remain as Sexton/Brimson/JC. It was rumoured that Foran would play 9 for Manly this year to accommodate Schuster but that hasn't eventuated. I personally don't think he has the durability to play 9, but who knows.

Thanks for your views! :salute:

If AJ Brimson had a Reed Mahoney and Mitchell Moses inside of him we would be talking about him as a better version of Dylan Brown. If he cant fit into 6. 7. and 1. because of our team composition then center is the best place to put him, he has to be in the 13, he is a gun.
