Round 12: BRONCOS vs TITANS (2024)

Was at the game, and besides the obvious joy of the win and the silence of the broncos crowd, some observations -

Thought Kini was great. Still a kid and small frame, but full of ticker and was dangerous every time he touched the ball.

Erin Clark is making me eat my words on him. Brings real impact and has dropped most of the errrors and ill discipline out of his game

Thank god Lofi has speed, because otherwise he would be nowhere near NRL. Offers nothing but negative metres on kick returns and his contact in defence is awful. Also, for the not the first time this year i saw him today miss a 1on1 tackle and then lay on the ground. Mariner made about 50 metres and was tackled by Kini and Lofi casually jogged at half pace back to defend. Not the level of effort we are creating here and the sooner we have other fit outside back options, the better.

Put her to bed and just watched the most fantastic awesome resilient effort of an injury hit team that again had the referees, bunker and even the so called independent Doctor against us.

I cannot tell you how much I hate that Murdoch funded Courier Fail Self Entitled Big club and its soulless fans.

Des resilience is real!!!!!

Thank you GC Titans

Yewwwwweeeee

There certainly were some individual highlights with Weaver and Kini's try saving tackles but there were also some team highlights as well. For me the standout was on the Weaver tackle on Oates which was after a big line break from the Broncos. The effort by the remaining 12 Titans players to get all the way back to the try line and defend the next set of tackles on the try line was immense.

This team effort I have not seen previously by the Titans probably for ever and it is just one of the many huge improvements in effort areas Des has made with the squad.

Des has really transformed our squad.

A surprising low amount of tackles were made in that game, some players almost had half as many missed tackles in relation to tackles made.

People complaining about Corey Parker and his Broncos biased commentary (which was definitely the case) should hear the MM Cup grand final broadcast and the idiot commentator who was nonstop so pro Burleigh and their link to the Broncos.

98 per cent of the commentary was about Broncos contracted players and Coby Black in particular who they constantly talked up as the heir apparent to the Broncos NRL half back spot.

Anybody would have thought with this idiot that Burleigh were the raging hot favourites as there was little commentary about Tweeds undefeated season. The funniest comment was when the commentator said that Tweed are now edging ahead in the game at 28-6.

Well done Tweed and to Zane who completely outplayed Coby and shut the idiot up.

Yep, it's a head scratcher. No left edge backrower selected. I think Muzza's selection is even weirder though. I would have played Cobbo at left centre and Val on the wing.

BUT we're Queenslanders and Billy's record is impeccable. He'll have his reasons. I think Dave can get a lot better too. This might be the medicine.

Didn't have much to say during game day due to being there, but man, what a win. What a game. That was again, one of the gutsiest efforts I have ever seen this team pull off. It's starting to come together lads. One thing I'd love to point out is our attacking structure throughout the game. It actually felt as if we had proper set plays organised, and we were constantly creating overlaps. The defence was great too... albeit conceding 34.. still a ways to go but nonetheless, you can tell Dessie has gotten the boys from blaming one another to holding each other accountable. Each week we are unlocking something new, and I hope that over this origin period we can start stringing some wins together and put the comp on notice for the future.

How good is it though having Cobbo as a super-sub and covers all backline. Having him on the bench is my yardstick for having the blues well and truly covered :)
