Round 12: BULLDOGS vs TITANS (2023)

Hey i agree....its just disappointing to see the brain snaps happen and passion disappear...as ive been a supporter from the start and i miss the sezer, bird and zillman (yeah i know....zilly) era....so yeah im loosing interest to.

I agree its not enjoyable anymore....i want to see passion for the jersey....or paycheck....

There was a period there, I think under Henry, when we'd always start slow but we'd never go away. Winning games from behind or even just playing till the final buzzer even if we were losing those games. Seems to be the exact opposite now.

Gotta hit rock bottom

If hitting rock bottom is the only the club will make the necessary changes, then history will just keep on repeating.

im undecided what the club needs to change

Does change of coach change anything as its hasn't had the long term affect in the past.
Hasler, well he leaves clubs in a worst state of affairs then when he arrives, Flanno, must be a good reason everyone is avoiding him.
Untried coaches who are currently assistants are not the go, anything in Super League? Thats where we are now.

interesting few months for the club.

Is it wrong to say bring Carty back! Atleast he cared and had passion for the Titans! Sorry been drinking....im trying to cope ok!

The half’s combination and their durability plus the bench and its ineffectiveness are the whole problem. Boyd and Foran are too similar with Foran who can’t kick or go for 40 minutes. Then the bench that has absolutely zero impact. The interchanges are just too baffling to analyze. I accept that we can play for 35 mins but after that, primarily for the reasons above, but also due to coaching and selection decisions we are not an effective unit.

Can’t even enjoy when we score points anymore because you just know we’re a good chance of being ran down in the 2nd.

Feel exactly the same. Seriously how f’d is it when you can’t even celebrate your own team scoring!

I’m finally conceding that Holbrook’s time is up.
Have been trying to ignore the red flags for the past 3 seasons but today finally broke me.
Gutted.

To your point about undecided in what needs to change ? Is there an appetite for changes above Holbrook in the football department and recruitment? Do we need a Peter Parr type or a Paul Bunn type to freshen up things around the coach more ? Just wondering if these areas need to be looked at ?

No heat put on Holbrook in presser, would of loved to see a question around the Fifita benching or just some generally more pointed questioning..

Probably not going to be a popular opinion ut I would think Bennett in 2025 should be a serious consideration.. Good sounding board, a draw card and a no BS guy.

Like ... Have you got a psychologist? What about the team? How's that working for you?

Joe Vuna for 15:33? That's all, while Stimson is busted? Liu only comes on for the last 12:41 of the second half? Then that last attempted sub when even the players know it's madness.

We had the team to win. We had a 14-0 lead. We just don't have the mental fortitude and I'm pretty sure we don't have a good PSYCHOLOGIST to fix that!!!! Whoever is responsible for that can bugger off!!!

Foran needs to retire. Way past it physically

Tino might be inspirational, but he's not a great captain. He's not a calm decision maker under pressure.

As I've previously stated...Tino announced as captain personifies Hurricane's standard of coaching...RUBBISH!

Quite honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Clark tried to make his own sub. The bloke is such a delusional moron that he probably thinks he could have come on and saved the day.

Anyway, would have been a good week to score 26 points. I wonder who will pay the price this week, hopefully Brimson is back soon and we can go back to having a decent FB. But then we have the bench issue of how much worse can we make it so we fade late in the first and die early in the second half. I'm sure as usually we'll all die wondering as the same team will get rolled out unsurprisingly and unexcitingly.

What's the point of the captain when he is dismissed by the refs anyway. "Hey ref, it's been more than 10 secs for the challenge and they just watched it on the big screen" " Go away Tino, I'm terrible at my job and need to have someone constantly fix my mistakes, even if it means ignoring rules"

Scrap the Captain's Challenge. It was a joke as soon as someone thought of it.

Just wondering if Lofi contests that last bomb that Sami stands in front of??? I reckon he would've.

I blame the players for that loss, not the coach. Sure that decision with two minutes to go and playing Clarke way too long was bad coaching but that game wa lost by bad decisions on the field.

I’m right where I was a month ago. Drop Boyd and Foran for sexton and AJ. The way that they started last year was much better than anything that our halves have done this year. Everybody wrapped Boyd a couple weeks ago for performing as well as he should week in week out. The guy can goal kick but that’s it.

Kelly and Sami are just dumb players. Watch the first try that the Bulldogs scored and look at where Sami positioned himself. He was in no position at all to assist in the play.

I have absolutely no idea what Holbrook sees in Clarke. Bring in big Thomas who can at least put his big body in front of players. Clarkes ineffective defence gifts the opposition momentum every week.

Don't all those points point to the coach being an idiot for picking the wrong players instead of your suggestions, dropping KP and moving Sami to the wing, picking Clark week in week out

I'm with you to a point NZF. It's just that the mindset of the players and their capacity for decision making under fatigue is also the coach's responsibility. Under Bellamy, we'd be a top six team.

I can see so much potential in Clark and his major value in D is leading the line speed but he's not. That's my challenge to him if I'm Holbrook - first contact or QCup. His first run was a good one today and I was hopeful but nothing followed after that. He needs a few of those and then use his passing game. It's not working though, so tough calls need to be made.

Sami and JC were awful today. Didn't see that coming after their recent form.
