Round 16: RAIDERS vs TITANS

I think what I most liked about tonight is really this should be the standard for our team. If everyone is playing hard we should put away the easy teams and fight with the top teams. This needs to be the standard
 
Talk about refs inconsistency. Ponga in the knights game gets hit late, the ref stops play and gives no penalty and let’s play on whereas Fafita gets 10 in the bin

Thought we couldn’t score points without Peachey. Surely he is gone. Penalty magnet, arm grabber in defence, but can worry teams close to their line. Not enough for me. See yah.

Good post Ausphin. I agree with all of this.
Just want to add to your Clarke comment…he is really starting to get out of dummy half and taking us into the advantage zone like all the good hookers do. Gave us really good ruck speed tonight and I noticed slow considerably when peach went to dummy.

Been a dog of a year.
Terribly disappointed with what we’ve thrown up.

BUT this weekend was a rare double Titans/Suns weekend so it’s onto the victory scotch and let’s see what we serve up against the Eels in a fortnight.
 
I think we’re a much better team than our current position indicates. Our problems are mostly mentality/confidence as far as I can tell and that is fixable. We never should’ve given up those big leads against the Broncos and Rabbitohs. If we had won those two, we’d be in 8th with a bye to come. We came so close in the Roosters and Storm games too. If we won those, we’d be sitting pretty in 5th. Of course this is all shoulda woulda coulda but my point is that there’s a lot of potential here and I don’t think it would take much more to realise it.

I agree. Just a decent hooker and a decent half would fix most of it.

Same here. I didn't expect a combined win of 110-6 with both having their record wins. I'll just lap it up as the miracle it is.

I'd be really interested to see how Taylor goes now with the 7 on his back alongside Boyd or Sexton, I know one good game doesn't out do all The bad ones but her he offers a lot more then Fogarty when he's on
 
Looking at the teams above us

Cowboys have the same amount of wins but one extra game. In their final 8 games they play every team in the top 7 except for the panthers and they also verse us. They should be almost out of finals contention considering their is such a big divide from that top 6 to the rest

The Knights have won one extra game but the same amount games left as us. They have an easy draw with Raiders, Bulldogs and Broncos twice in their final four games. They also have the Sharks, Roosters, Storm and Us. They will be hard to overtake

The Sharks have one extra win but also play the Broncos today and have one extra game to play after that. They play the Warriors twice, Storm, Manly, Broncos, Tigers, Knights,, Bulldogs and Raiders.

So we need some results to go our way as well as wining most of our final games. If we had capitalised on our leads and had beaten the Rabbitohs, Broncos, Roosters and Manly we would be in 5th with the same amount of wins as the Rabbitohs and 2 more wins than both the Roosters and Manly
 
I've finally got to see the replay. While the score line was great. There is still a lot of work to do. I won't be confident that we have turned a corner till we beat a team which has turned up to play. The Raiders were terrible. After all these years of having hopes dashed I am quite gun shy.

I thought our defence was a lot better, back to basics you could literally see the pointing and talk, even Lisone when he was trying to cover a line break and telling AJ who he had covered, Herbert was the same.
