Round 16: TITANS vs NZ WARRIORS (2024)

AJ was reported out for 6-8 weeks and this is week 6. No idea how he’s tracking so here’s my team hoping he’s back. If not, I guess we have to pick Lofi again and play Sami at centre 🤮

1. Kini
2. Sami
3. Kelly
4. AJ
5. Jojo
6. JC
7. Foz
8. Mo
9. Verrills

I would not have Verrils or Liu anywhere near this team. Have Randall start at 9, call up Bryant for a debut, And have Alick-Wiencke on the bench.

Stimson in for too Palasia too. His attitude sucks, he and Verrills need some QCup time to decide if they want to bring consistent effort each week.

Add Iszac to that and you have our best 17 for next week. Fermor is lucky to be on the bench but he could give us something as a middle off the bench at the end of the game.

Sorry, that’s not realistic. Bryant isn’t anywhere near ready as far as I know and I don’t see that much in Alick to be honest.

Whatever the make up of the team the combination of any other than Boyd with Foz is a mistake. One hooker on at a time. Sami only on the right wing. Mo, Clark, Pahulu and Haas are basically in the small forward category.

Observation: if Kini has all that ball then others don’t.

CBus will be Wahsland for the visitors and a wasteland of Titans next week. The fans will start voting with their feet now.

Kini gets through a lot of work but he needs to learn how to influence a result, that is what other fullbacks do for other teams on a weekly basis. His support play is lacking, he needs to improve his anticipation and vision. He is improving weekly but still in the lower eschalon of fullbacks that the NRL has to offer which puts us at a disadvantage. I still haven't seen anything which necessitates him over JC at the back who has already shown much more ability to influence games on his own account.

Anyone who says we have to start preparing for next year, I will reply to them - 'Winning every game matters to me as a fan and not receiving the spoon even more. We still have plenty to play for.'

1.JC
6. Boyd
7. Foran

Boyd in the team is a pisstake surely. Have you watched the bloke play the last 4 or 5 seasons haha

Can appreciate that JC was in some terrific form last year, but was there ever a point where he was influencing a result on his own back? I feel like even at his best we were still losing.

Also - the poor support play yesterday was across the board. So frustrating watching everyone stand there watching whenever half an opportunity was created.

Wahs are gonna be looking for revenge at their second home ground Cbus

Unless AJ is the plan at fullback, it's 100% up for grabs. Kini is doing well there now (shown as much as JC has already imo) and until he doesn't perform, It's his. JC was good but nowhere near has the right to the fullback spot to what is being made out, His winning record is horrible as a starting player.....We tend to do better without him, Who knows what that's up to but it is kind of the reality.

It's a hot take probably but the issues this club has put itself in connect to pushing JC to be starter, I don't think it would've happened at all if it wasn't for his last name and then we've had to push back on plans.

He's also 24 which should be taken into consideration despite not everything being lineal, How developed or what is JC??? If we're being real I don't think he starts at any other clubs at fullback. I don't think Kini does either right now but he's also 4 years younger which is a massive difference imo and is showing improvements quickly.

He's not a better 1 or 6 then AJ and has ended up just as injury prone and he's 1 year younger while AJ just got till 2030, Kini has only been at fullback since Des came and is 4/5 years younger.

I think the decision has probably been made tbh, JC needs to earn his spot as much as anyone imo, He gets a bit of a free ride.

I think all three of them have records that speak for themselves as players and we are bring a little harsh on JC but there are only so many square shapes we can fit into round holes. JC seems like the odd man out unless he can play halfback long-term. I'm not talking about giving him away though. I keep him unless a team offers us a red hot halfback/halfback prospect or maybe stud OB in return for his services.

If he goes it is only to fill a clear need elsewhere in the top 30.

I don't think JC has to leave either tbh, A 14 like him is looking crazy useful these days....

He re-signed on the bench last year tbf when he might've had chances to leave quickly, Maybe he just doesn't want to leave. He can have any spot whenever someone is injured and cover it... That's worth a lot.

There's not really a club he'd start as a fullback at.

JC is stuck in a wierd Venn diagram of being too good for cup and good enough for first grade but not elite enough / good body composition enough to be an elite fullback

Imo he’s gotta hit the gym to pack some size and play halfback in cup and be manufactured like Hynes and Hughes (and Cronk in the past) have been

With Carter Gordon potentially being released from RA from August to begin a long preseason training regime as the replacement for Foran we could be very well back to a spine of players who can’t be field generals

This season is done and probably was over before it began with all these injuries and we really need to get a proper strength and conditioning program this off season. A hotbox dojo isn’t cutting it

Am I missing something? JC has a bit of height, right? He's quick on his feet and between the ears, right? Doesn't that make him a bigger, smarter, more tenacious if not quite so quick AKP? AJ who is our best fb at 1, JC on the left wing for Loafy and Kini at 14 gets my vote. Until AJ is back Kini gets the 1. We should stop dicking around with square pegs in round holes and go back to what works.

After Des’s presser do we expect any changes this week?

I know we have a lot out but still plenty of the top 30, Dev players etc that played in trials that showed a hell of a lot more heart than what’s currently being displayed way prefer to watch a team loose trying their best and being proud of the jersey vs some players that think they are better than it??

Dropping Kini and keeping Lofi, Lui sends a real bad message. Good form and effort warrants selection, Kini stays.

What are the rules on debuting juniors?

Would love to see some of the young bucks get a go now the season is written off so we can see what we have

Don't like Palasia starting, hoping for him to at least be back on the bench later this week. Even better if he was dropped but don't see that happening
