Round 18: TITANS vs BRONCOS (2022)

Anyone know how marzhew went at center this weekend? Hopefully he's being groomed to take over from herbert

He wore the number 3 for Burleigh on the weekend, looked good and was getting big praise from the Burleigh coaches. Damaging runner and was able to shut down the Townsville on a fair few spreads but yeah I think he needs a bit more strength and conditioning, Burleigh we’re feeding him the whole first half for set movements up the field and he was gassed

I think overall Titans fans are happy/happier with the result last night, judging by comments of fans around the net and conversations I've had with fellow fans. We need to enjoy the moments we get and we had some great moments last night. Delighted with Mo. Excited about JoJo and Booth with two good debuts.

Hopefully we can fine tune the team further next week. Inclusion of Marzhew, Tino to frontrow and Clarke to 13. Making something happen with Fifita and our long/high kicking options.

Thanks for the comment T0ken!

It would be lovely if we could just lay off each other a few degrees.

Sorry, but I have every right to call out the misinformation in that post. We made the finals in 2016 and then 2021. Therefore, Justin Holbrook did not take us to the finals after a 10-year finals drought, only 5 years.

I'm not referring to that, or you in particular. But in general I'm seeing a lots of back and forth if people don't agree with them that it's the end of the world. It's tiresome.

It's not as though we're calling each other names or anything. Jesus.

Back to the game, I am no happier today than I was after the loss last night. A loss especially to a depleted Broncos side is never fun. Still 3 wins for the year. Onto the Dogs next week who've been playing some good footy of late.

For me I feel a lot better than the day after we lost our last game to the Broncos. That was just... so bad. To let that one go was such a wound. It still burns . Last night I gave my usual long speech about why the Broncos are evil and Super League and SEQLD exclusivity clauses. My wife was so interested in that... But it was me channeling Churchill.

I'm not hearing much about our defence. I think it was much improved. Especially goal-line and scramble.

Mate. Read my post carefully and then tell me what misinformation I included. I am not apologising for people misreading my post.

I'm actually going to do something I haven't done in a long time. Rewatch a Titans game.

Also, I think there were performances worthy of votes. So please take some time to give some Moejoe points. CLICK HERE FOR THE THREAD

Doing that right now. Clarke played well at lock.

Seriously? Ok I'm wrong there. Wow, you need a hobby.

For me it's very hard to take anything out of our defence this game when the Broncos were missing key personnel like Cobbo, Haas, Carrigan (Origin player of the series), Capewell, Herbie, Oates and anyone else I've missed. By all means, I'm happy to be proved wrong in the coming weeks.

I will say though that Booth looked good and Clarke looked much better in the 13 jumper than he did at 9. And Tino is a prop. Jojo played well in his debut but not getting carried away yet.

Team seemed more up for the game than recent performances. New faces and positional changes certainly had an impact. Long way to go but it’s looks a step in the right direction.

Need to shift Sami to other side if he is to stay a centre. Cant have a right foot stepper on the left side of the field as he steps back into drifting defence. On right side he would be skipping on outside of his centre potentially setting up a two on one for the winger.

As for Holbrook, last nights performance will help his case, but I think the opposite, it took a gun to his head to get him to make changes most of the rugby league would could see. If Holbrook can’t recognise the changes at each weeks game review than that is a major short coming in his coaching ability, and one I don’t think we can carry.

I think your observations are bang on here.
Also would say Fermour is in the same boat on the right

Only reason I haven't commented is because I was at a bucks on Saturday and ended up at the game but am in no condition to make a comment on who played well etc. We seemed to look better and I felt we didn't get 50/50 calls going our way as usual. Herbert was terrible, he's worse than Hurrell at this stage. Shoots out of the line like he gets a wink from the opposition half back at the best time for him to have zero defensive effect on shutting an overlap or any play down. Missed Greg's run out of our own 20m. Fifita was ineffective, Fermor played his worst game to date. AJ is a FB at JC's expense. Sexton is still below par. Boyd wasn't terrible. Mo was great. Liu is another plodder now. Clarke isn't a hooker but he's also an ineffective attacking middle. Anyway, wasn't expecting a win even with half the Broncos out.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt cause it sounds like you were pretty faded by the time you got to the game, but not sure how you can say Clark is an ineffective attacking middle when he ran for 157 metres, broke 8 tackles, had a 60 metre linebreak, and an offload to set up our first try.

Also disagree about Tanah, thought he stifled Fifita big time and there were several times where he shouldve passed to him but dummied and went himself. Tanah has been training at hooker the entire year, I’ll be pissed if we finish the year with him at 6 when theres no chance he plays there next year. Agree with the rest of your comments, although I think Sexton’s short kicking game is already elite, he just doesn’t have much else to his game

Fair enough, we started at 10:30. Clarke just looked like he wanted to get involved but just did nothing effective. Some of his indecisions were evident and all he tried to do was crash his way through when we were in the attacking 10m. But happy to concede if I'm way off.

Sounds like a great day then mate  I’ll admit I was a bit cooked too so I don’t have the best memory of our plays on their line, but I agree we looked clunky and Clark may have been part of that. I just remember being impressed by his running game and thinking he looked far better as a forward than a hooker, which seems to be the general concensus as well.
