Round 19: TITANS vs PARRA (2024)

so we all are under the belief we're gonna grind out victories and go undefeated and make finals, right?

Turned the corner and at home under Des we should ream these sockcuckers.

Junior Paulo looks like having foot surgery.

Said this on the game thread but probably better here:

I don't like Fermor at centre. He gets beaten on the outside too much and his lateral movement isn't good. He's smart though, which compensates enough to still be better than Sami there. I hope to christ Des doesn't pick Sami at centre. I'd prefer HSS there than either of them. Jojo could be good there but he's been good on the wing and Sami can move to the other wing to give us more.

Alick could be something. He was tight tonight. Big unit too.

Still can't get my head around playing Stimmo for less than 10min. Especially when Liu only gets 18. Is Young Iszac a better option?

Do we get Klese, AJ and Sami back next week? What about Big Tony?

We were so dominant the first half we didn’t need to use the bench much

We've won 4 games with Fermor at centre now compared to constantly losing with him in the second row and how many time has he actually been found out that have cost us compared to where he usually is? My arguement would be what centre besides the absolute top ones aren't being beaten constantly? and even those ones are at this point (Looking at VAL) HSS was being beaten constantly when he was in the team as well so why not have the bigger body in Fermor out there?

Fermor will always be caught out defensively right now but it's hurting us less when he's at centre and we're winning games more even when he has to move out due to injuries. Fermors stats, 19 runs, 177m, 83pcm, 3.56s ptb, only had to make 10 tackles and missed 2, BK missed 5 but they were all good misses from both.

That's way more useful from him then us getting 40 tackles 7 misses with 4 complete misreads and 80m which has been happening with him at 2nd row, He also is a mismatch at their end as much as he is on ours but we're covering it well and our structure is made for it.

So this will be the week we hopefully find out how des wants to use kini, aj and jc in the side and for the future. Likely to be without Fifita and mo but eels will be without Moses

Haas for Difita and JC for Boyd while Foz seems to have that right edge functioning so I wouldn’t change a thing there. Unfortunately I see Liu for Mo and AJ at 14.

Why do you guys assume Fifi gets selected for Origin?

Personally I think he's still long odds to get selected. Billy couldn't have made it any more clear that he either doesn't like Fifi or just doesn't rate him for whatever reason.

Either way, I'll be happy to get Klese back, wherever he plays.

So I was about to say something similar.
Dave did not play himself into the QLD team last night.
I’m quite hopeful he will be playing for us now.

I am hoping this lineup for the Parra game:

1. Kini
4. AJ (roaming centre)
6. Jayden
7. Foran
9. Verrills
13. Randall

Don't know if this will be the long term solution with Kini, JC and AJ. But for this game I think give it a go and see what sticks, having AJ defending at centre is a big plus (which Des would love).

Either way I'm excited to see these 3 hit the field together, it will either be a clusterfk or it will be x-factor galore. Bring it on!

We need Kini, JC and AJ on the field at the same time. Linebreaks galore, particularly with Foz and AJ linking up on the right. Don’t forget that AJ was playing outside Tanah when he was at centre earlier in the year. Totally different equation with Foz pulling the reigns.

Good point willhelm, so excited just to see these 3 together. It's still crazy how fans of other nrl teams forget how young our core pack is - still a crazy amount of upside potential especially once they know their positions and get game time playing together.

If he’s not selected then it defies logic but for his sake I hope he does and for the Club moving forward. If he’s not then no harm no foul.
Also if AJ goes to 4 then Fermor goes where? If Difita is selected then he goes back to exposing our left edge and I don’t want to see that.
Plenty of “ifs” but that’s why it’s a Forum. Quite weird waking up on a Saturday having won, I’ll have to go and kick the dog.

From what I saw last night
1 AJ
6 JC
7 Foz
14 Kini

That kid Kini is insurance for the backline but also the way he plays he can most definitely play some impact 13 or 9 off the bench if there are no injuries during the game.
He has no fear in running the ball himself at the big humans.
