Round 2: BULLDOGS vs TITANS (2025)

That scoreline flatters us, sorry but this team ain't making finals again until they fix their defence which they've had years to do. Really dumb errors too but some of those could be put down to fatigue.
I don’t think it does, 4 or. 5 errors have given the dogs some shots at us.
For the last 60 mins we have gone pretty much with the dogs.

I'm not too disappointed to be honest. Disrupted training and our first game for the year. I actually think we will have a solid year. If we stay fit

It all depends on if our forwards have a crack defensively, which based on history and a short sample size of the present seems unlikely.

There was enough not to be to doom and gloom.

A lot of the same people doing the same things that are costing us, Feels like Moe should be the one playing 20/25 mins. RCG was pretty horrible but will give him not having a full pre season.

Tuki played a pretty good 74 mins in cup against Pride which had a bunch of first graders (Cowboys though), What he brings I'd nearly take over Moe right now...

MORE BROCK GRAY.

Very happy with Brock Gray how he was throwing his body into everything in attack and defence.

Very dissapointed in some of our players which just lack effort (Mo, Fifita, RCG Klese, Beau) - no kick pressure, no defending from inside at marker, no line speed.

Barely saw Alofi, JC, Sami and Jojo.

Verrils had some poor passes from hooked, he needs to sharpen up next game.

Knew we would get crunched if we played 1 out football. Need to have more dynamic runs for field position, 2 line runners, tap ons, drop unders, early ball to the 2nd rowers / centres.

Still our first game of the season so not that stressed, we needed a full game to get that match fitness up. But would have hoped for a bit more effort.

Still happy to give Fifita and RCG some grace, as they had injuries during the preseason. Knights up next!

Kelly needs to go, presumably Carter Gordon fixes this when he's ready

Not sold on Verrills long term, sign Blake Mozer plz

Not sold on JC as long term 7 but too early to know

Disappointing we were horrendous until Burton got injured and obviously they're going to struggle without their best half

There isn't a lot wrong with the roster other than hooker and centres really (Lofi offers a ton in attack but may need to be replaced eventually if he can't fix his defence, but not having a terrible centre eventually will help) and presumably Zane Harrison takes the 7 off JC when he's ready unless JC develops better than I expect him to although i've been low on JC forever so I hope he proves me wrong, just can't help but think if he had a different surname he would have zero hype.

I don't know who replaces Kelly in the short term but he has been subpar for years in his role with one good game for every three bad. Nice guy, but just not a first grade centre

We'll learn a lot back at home vs the Knights next week, but if we lose by double digits i'll be ready two weeks in to say it's a 15th straight season of sub .50 wins the game is winnable and i'm not giving up on our season yet but that was overall a fairly terrible performance today

I think long term Brimson and Kini work at 6/1 and our pack will get there eventually but a few forwards not performing, hopefully Pahulu is back next week and goes well and then Kelly and Sami really are not doing a lot, Sami had a good few years for us but has dropped off and Kelly was always sub par. Stephenson and Gordon in a few years hopefully solves that but doesn't fix anything for next week, i'm usually high on Francis but wasn't super impressed in the trials and didn't see this week's QCup game yet so not sure if he's the answer at the moment

I'm happy to give Lofi another year to fix his defensive issues and errors because in attack he is one of the best wingers in the NRL but he has to work at it

It does feel like long term we need a game controlling 7 and a different 9, hopefully one of JC/CG/Harrison becomes that 7 and Mozer is right there for us to throw money at imo stuck behind Hunt at the Broncos when they're healthy and competing with Walters and Paix so they can't really pay him what his potential is worth

At least we scored some points but we can't just concede 40 points to a team missing their best attacking player for two thirds of the match and be okay with that

I still have no idea what anyone sees in Klese. I think that while Alick obviously doesn't offer a huge deal in attack in first grade (he is a gun in cup though) he makes fewer errors and is a better defensive player.

Recruitment wise right now we need to be lining up Verrills replacement. I just don't think he's the guy. If we can get Mozer great if not we need to figure it out because we have had issues at hooker forever.

I also think we need a real lock (can we fix Brandon Smith? idk probably not) because Erin Clark wasn't it, Tino is an elite prop playing lock and if we had someone who could run at the line and get the good pass away the way that Yeo does for the Panthers it would make a huge difference.

Having the lock and hooker not add a ton just puts so much more pressure on the halves and we haven't had a good prop or lock in years (i'm not counting Tino as a lock since I think he is an elite pure prop and that's where he should play)

Today sucked, I expected a close loss, we got a fairly bad loss instead factoring in the Burton injury, next week if we are a mid table side we should beat the Knights at home, if we are a bottom 4 side again we lose, we're going to find out.

Also I am still REALLY not sold on Des, our defence hasn't improved and our attack has generally gotten worse despite the roster getting better under him

Ol BK, over the years his performance has made me punch walls, but also punch the air in delight.
It won’t change.
Yes he made an error at a crucial time, but I thought he was on of our better players tonight.

It was legit all on the forwards basically... Add the error from Lofi and some dumb shit but besides Tino and Gray our forwards were dog shit..

You are very very rarely winning games ever in the NRL with a forward pack performing like that.
