Round 23: DRAGONS vs TITANS (2022)

Paul Turner is not first grade material

- - - Updated - - -

After a week to review my thoughts, the original ones return
Boyd is not a 25 round season starting half
Holbrook has low footy IQ- playing back rowers at hooker. Sam might have a good pass but 3 key things for a dummy half to do in attack and Sam doesn’t engage markers and has no running game so easy for defence to man up. Holbrook needs to better than picking a bloke with a good pass
No more JWal please
Give JoJo a game in the centres
Bring Sexton back and Boyd to nine
Lui has been a waste of money, reminds me of the Shannon Boyd and Latu days. Cant carry him for another two years

Apart from one dodgy pass that Fermor dropped, what did Boyd do wrong?

Having Wallace running the show when Molo was sent off was the issue imho. We stopped doing what worked and started playing his panic bs style. Then why have fresh fast legs sitting on the bench? So horribly disappointed for every supporter of the club and Holbrook managed to lead us to the impossible loss.

Not Boyd’s fault. He’s not great but Wallace and the leadership on and off the field should be ashamed.

Just shows how far we have got to go to even get to midfield on the table.

Our forwards are just marsh mellows in defence and unless we clear out our forward pack and get some real defenders who wants to win the collisions, we are just no hope in moving off the bottom of the ladder.

Just a shameful performance in a shameful season

I might have been a touch harsh, but that pass was a big miss. watched in the QCup finals last year and under pressure he made a number of similar errors. I would like to see how he goes with a quality hooker might give him the extra time he needs

Absolutely. When we needed smarts on the field, we've got Wallace running the show

As a club that has very low footy IQ, I hope whoever they bring in as assistant is a lot more than someone who puts out cones.
Now that the Tweed coach is going to the Dragons maybe we should consider Rick Stone.I’m fairly certain that Stone would have told Holbrook to not to put a prop in the centres from a scrum. As nearly every frigging Titans supporter would have said

I’m not surprised that they put JWal out in the backs from a scrum. As all season the Titans lack of creativity from attacking scrums gives us a look into the coaches mindset with scrums, he just doesn’t recognise that they can be a great attacking opportunity, but we usually do a one off the scrum move.

It's so painfully obvious Holbrook is not up to coaching at NRL level. Yet our owners persist with him. The only reason I can think of is they don't want to pay him out.

Because surely they aren't delusional enough to think this is the guy to turn our club around!

I would take the wooden spoon if it meant that for the next two weeks, we play youth put Klese Haas, Tom Weaver and Tino's brother Iszac, let them know that they will get two games no matter what.

IT would also give a message to the fans that it is an investment for the future. Yes people are going to say that they might not be ready but it would send a message to a lot of groups not the least being us - the fans.

Pick one more MDrew and we have our bench

These refs are weak gutted dogs..

Of course you mean weak gutted dog persons, Indoallstars. And yes, you'd be spot on. As soon as the Mbye high shot on Sami was missed, I knew it was over. How does the touchy, ref and bunker miss that? Corruption? If Mbye is put on report for that shot, which we see almost each game, 18th man CT comes off the bench, Jojo to centre and we win the game.

If anyone dares watch that joke of a game again, you'll see reffing mistakes throughout that indicate we're only making up the numbers. Did V'Landys keep Gould in his pocket for another week with a margin? I mean, gambling + Rugby League + the guy that runs horse racing = suspicion (right or wrong). Apologies for my cynicism.

In saying all that, we are a disgrace but could have finished with a win. No doubt we'd be kinder with a win, me included. There are things that I've said to myself during that game that aren't safe to repeat out loud.

One of the things I've admired about Holbrook is how he hasn't blamed the refs. He's justified to go munyuk today after a season of betrayal but deep down he know that his team isn't where it should be and that's on him. Still, if I was running the club, I'd be setting up a dirt unit on the refs and publicising bad calls in clips each week to show how often we're dudded. From my experience, the best way to get an official to act is to embarrass them into action. Sure Holbrook avoids the Sydney media scrutiny because we're not a Sydney team but so do the refs.

"We just have be better". That's true. So does the NRL.

mdrew I am totally in agreement … we had a chance to blood at least one and possibly two today but the best we could come up with was exiting players and even then managing to misuse them. Beyond ropable.

The refs were complicit but they sent one off ffs.

I think you should review round 1 and 2 post game press conferences. Holbrook spent plenty of time talking about how the small clubs don’t get a fair go with the ref.
I could not believe round one he has put in the players mind that we are a small club

This what I would go with next week
1. JC
2. AKP
3. JoJo
4. Kelly
5. Marz
6. AJ
7. Sexton
8. Jolliffe
9. Boyd
10. Tino
11. Haas
12. Fermor
13. Fifita
14. Weaver (if allowable)
15. Mo
16. Isaac
17. Alick

As with MDrew, I now don’t care about the spoon but want to see major change in the club direction and stuff the pillows we have in Wallace, Ese Ese and Lui

Well, I am just so stunned and humiliated. I can't remember a team going backwards like that with a rival player sent off with 17 minutes remaining. We collapsed into a mindless, panicky mess just when we should be ending them with 13 v 12. And it wasn't like we were setting the world on fire before that either.

62:45 SEND OFF
65:06 DRAGONS CONVERTED TRY
69:25 DRAGONS TRY
78:02 DRAGONS CONVERTED TRY

Titans scoring ZERO points after the send off. The stuff of nightmares.

The refereeing was terrible. I dont want to use that as an excuse but I want to say it. The Dragons were quite dirty and the lack of enforcement emboldened them.

Last two games should should be used as experiments and I agree about blooding players. I'd bring Sexton back.

I'm really concerned by out lack of quality and the NRL at large. Like others have said, we are so low IQ. :duh2:

Holbrooks only mistake is being bullied by the Facebook fans who think jarrod Wallace has redeeming qualities
