Round 23: TITANS vs SHARKS (2024)

SpongeBob theme with some appropriately offensive toothless shark animations on the big screens, please. A little late but perhaps next year we could have a pre-game battered "flake" eating competition.

Let’s hope the game entertainment crew again put on a master class with the Sharks entering the field. I think the song Flipper would be appropriate
I laughed so hard at Mr Ed. Especially because I grew up watching it in the afternoons. these types of things can be stacked upon one another and suddenly we have an entertaining match day culture.

The Mr Ed thing also came through the tv coverage too.

This contrasts with the Dolphins. Who have slick videos at the game. But they constantly pump pop music at extreme volume that make your ears bleed. Every stoppage of play. And they allow it to run into actually gameplay. Which is a cardinal sin in the sport. Horrendous. And also an insult to fans intelligence and attention spans.

This wa really frustrating. Because after a play you want to talk about it with your friends and family. But it’s hard to even hear anything. I’m considering emailing the Dolphins about it.

It’ll be a really good test of our mettle.

Titans already busy at work filling the stadium.

1. Saw an ad for tickets to the Sharks game in Brisbane TV
2. Club has sent an offer of a free ticket for a friend of members and also a subsequent discount of 10% for further purchases from them.

Should be a healthy crowd. And it sure as loud on Saturday. Really took me back to OF Titans.

Honestly I’ll be pissed if they’re giving away tickets … I paid full freight for 33 people and didn’t even get a tour leader or bus driver’s ticket … internationals not welcome … remember previous discussions about new markets … jeez Louise.

The first thing people think of about the Gold Coast besides beaches is TOURISM. We are the tourism capital. So we should be the leader and pioneer in bringing new nationalities to the game.

Your project is amazing Titanic. And I really hope we get a win in exciting fashion for them.

Injury report: Beau no go for the Sharks

One of the Titans key cogs will miss this Friday's game against the Sharks after picking up an injury in the club's last start local derby win.

Beau Fermor sustained a bruised kidney in the Titans 46-18 win against the Broncos and will miss his first game of season 2024 as a result.

After missing all of last season with an ACL injury, Fermor has returned to some of his best form and has shown his versatility as he has played both in his normal position and covered backline spots across the year.

Fermor will have tests in the coming week before returning to play in the next fortnight.

Sam Verrills is fit to play against the Sharks, with the hooker not sustaining an injury despite having to leave the field with an ankle complaint last start.

AJ Brimson will again be monitored as he continues his rehab on a recurring groin injury and remains a chance of returning on Friday against Cronulla.

Verrills can play great.
So looks like Klese starts instead of Fermor and AJ to the bench.
A bench of Clark Pahulu Liu AJ
If AJ is out again I guess we play Palasia
Let’s go

The free tickets are only for the Roosters game, and are in the GA bays (unless different member tiers got different ones for the final two games?)

Fermor being out is a bigger loss than we could imagine, he has been a defensive animal for us, constantly racks up plenty of tackles. Him and Randall are our weekly tackle toppers. Hopefully Klese is ready for the task at hand, I believe.

Thanks for that. @Appsy . I missed that. They probably should have added that to their graphic. But my mistake. I skimmed it.

I’m happy for recruitment campaigns that make use of members. Because we know people who are close to getting on board or who have dropped off over the years. It’s also good to have GA sections as it makes this stuff easier.

I wonder what type of crowd we will get. Hopefully one that is once again loud.

We have lost the last 9 out of 10 to the sharks. Hopefully this is the year we start reversing trends.

Also I went onto the Sharks Forums and they think Bailey will play 9 in offence and 7 in defense.

If we lose to a halves combo of Blayke Brailey and 'Daniel Atkinson' im gonna spew.
Their bench still worries me, it outclasses our own. If they play hard direct 1-up conservative football, we might be in for a struggle. Sharks playing their best footy can out arm-wrestle us compared to the best we have shown. If this happens hopefully we show a new standard of how we can grind and grind. Hopefully it doesnt.

Definitely they outmuscle us which is our Achilles heel. Hazelton down our soft middle and Talakai always lifts against us because he’s a flat track bully both worry me a lot. However, if it’s dry and fast then the loss of Trindall, Hines and Mulitalo even it up a lot. There is also a chance that Palasia has got the message which maybe is a bit of a fantasy but would stiffen-up that middle.

It’s Cronulla.
If you aren’t up for the fight you get rolled.
Their forwards and bench and outside backs on paper are superior.

So we need another heap of Des resilience and us fans need to play our part too.

We aren’t feral enough.

In fact the 1st round against the Sharks was one of our best defensive efforts where they pounded our line in the 2nd half particularly with crash plays with their big boppers snd we held firm.

We need to have the same defensive mindset all game against the Sharks.
