Round 24: DRAGONS vs TITANS (2024)

Honestly the effort in the second half in general was way better than the first. But we still sucked

But far out we’ve had some really disappointing individual efforts. We’re never going to get anywhere with selfish, low IQ players constantly doing dumb shit that changes momentum. You don’t see guys doing this stuff at the top teams, let alone week after week
How BK hasn't been dropped at some stage this year is bewildering and quite frankly, poor coaching.

No accountability at all from the coach for his constant errors and poor decision making.

The line speed and contact improved, but it's like the titans are sinking ship and we rip off one patch to fix another hole. Never do we witness a holistic improvement.

Des must've had a bit to do with the roster and he re-signed most of the guys that get mentioned like Sami and BK till 2026 and others before even getting in the joint unless Lafranchi is running all of the roster on his own in which case there's probably bigger concerns. Sami was already on a deal this year and BK if you want to re-sign him give him a year or two, Instead everyone gets 2026 and I won't start on the AJ deal because that makes less sense then ever after todays minutes.

Playing Sami in the centres at this point should be talked about more hahahaha, Also AJ shouldn't be sitting on the bench that long even if he's in the shithouse with Des or whatever.... It's disrespectful and I'd rather him not in the 17 if that's how he'll be used.

It got mentioned but is it poor effort? Some players probably but it's also been a fundamental thing with this team for years now. They're small and struggle making metres, can't defend on the edges for any sustained period, Get rolled through the middle and edges constantly and a bunch of other stuff that keeps happening that we can sometimes cover for when we're attacking well.

That didn't look to different to the game at the start of the year, just a tad more even. For all the praise Des has gotten, I think there's still some concerns about some of his decisions that get overlooked player wise and interchanges and we've still got a lot of the issues from previous years that I don't think can be coached out of them.

Second half we didn’t get rolled through middle or edges at all. And that’s the half that we’d usually ge thumped in previous years. Which we’ve seen a few times this year.

But we’ve absolutely got guys with issues that can’t be coached out of them. Trouble is realistically it takes 2-3 years for a coach to build a roster because of all the moving parts.

Yep the line Foran ran to open up an overs line run for Klese to score and what does he do, run an unders line to butcher the try. Just no idea by Klese
He plays better at lock where he doesn't have to make those sort of decisions on both sides of the ball. Just run and tackle - keep it simple for him.

Everyone has summed up my thoughts after this game

1. Awful awful awful moronic individual plays
2. Too many just low IQ front-runners, need to be swapped out for some of these blue collar Dragons players
3. Pack is too small and absolutely not built to get in an arm wrestle
4. Really really poor 5th tackle options on their own goalline
5. JC as HS has said, needs to just flat out do more. Hasn't been involved enough the past couple weeks to justify him over Brimson
6. Lofi needs to recognise he has an opportunity as a trailer behind Keano Kini
7. Keano Kini is just the best ever
8. Brian Kelly almost single-handidly loses us the game/momentum
9. David Fifita needs to do more. I'm not talking about production. I'm talking about just being aggressive in general
10. Klese Haas i'm not really convinced knows what he's doing out there, we need something a little bit better behind Beau or he moves as a 13 only long-term

Overall, a sad end. Shoutout to Keano man, he wants it.

I’m not criticizing Kini but he runs 400m because no one else is … isn’t it obvious there is something not right with that eg AKP backing him up or other players in motion? Poor little bloke should be running 200 quality not doing it all.

When Phil re signed he was our best winger. And it was like a month after Des was announced our coach lol

That’s the silver lining of an end of season fade out.
Means the hierarchy need to be ruthless and make tough decisions.
Knowing our recruitment over the years, we move on plodders and replace them with even bigger plodders or just outright Qcup standard players. We just hardly ever replace a player with a better player

Don’t get me wrong at this stage Sami and BK are handy to have as backups should the inevitable injury crisis hits and in that sense are handy but their contracts and every so often “ good games” means that will never be considered.

Agreed mate our policy alot or the time seems to be sign 5 bog average players and maybe one over performs

Well that's the season, lads. Hopefully decisions are made in the off season surrounding the boys. Another season of mediocrity.. But we all know we won't give up on the boys. They just HAVE to find a way to compete for 80 minutes, and find ways to compete for us fans.

With that being said, I want Des to pick the best performing 17. Pick a 17 that will win games with ease, and grind out hard fought victories. There needs to be a change in the mentality. Bring in A sports psychologist, start giving blokes the chop, and get them to farkin arc up.

Really? I can't recall off the top of my head us recently replacing players with worse players? genuinely curious

Also, in the case of Brian Kelly, we shouldn't necessarily replace him with a more talented player at their best outcome, but just someone more consistent that doesn't pull the same moronic plays once or multiple times a game. I'd take a Storm Cheyse Blair type or something there instead honestly. Doesn't have to be a world beater. Just someone that knows how to play.
