Round 4: TITANS vs TIGERS (2022)

I noticed near the end of the game that Clark went back on and Will Smith went to fullback. I don’t rate Smith but could be an indication of what Holbrook is thinking about Campbell.

If Thompson is back, he goes to fullback. If not, maybe Isaako?

Not sure I could handle another try conceded by Marzhew making a poor read again.

For me, i want

Thompson / Isaako
Sami
Kelly
Masters
Herbert

Same halves and same starting pack. Maybe Mcintyre or Ese Ese depending on how they have been going in Qcup. Would prefer someone other than Will Smith but i guess he can cover a couple of positions.

This is Thursday night isn't it? Not a chance I'll waste my time going down after that Raiders game. I'd prefer a decent nights sleep.

I'd like to probably see:

1. Thompson/Isaako
2. Sami
3. Kelly
4. Marsters
5. Isaako/Thompson
6. Brimmo
7. Sexton
8. Moe
9. Clark
10. Liu
11. Fifita
12. Fermor
13. Fa'asuamaleaui

14. Smith (Only because Boyd isn't available)
15. Wallace
16. Joliffe
17. McIntyre

I mentioned last week that I wouldn't mind seeing Thompson start at fullback and after last night's performance, I feel even stronger about that now. I don't think JC is ready for it. I think Thompson having the more experienced head makes more sense at this point, as our spine is very inexperienced. If not Thompson, I think Isaako should go there and stick Thompson out onto Marzhew's wing.

Marzhew is good when he's good and shocking when he's bad. He can attack well but makes far too many incorrect defensive reads.

I understand what Justin has tried to do with Proctor but I think we can all agree he belongs nowhere near the side. Offers nothing whatsoever. Lisone isn't doing much better himself IMO. I think it's worth trying out Wallace and McIntyre even though they might not have been playing outstanding in QCup. Maybe a first grade call up gets them rolling a bit, who knows.

Probably for the best for JC to have a rest rather than being dropped. I think he's our long term FB but agree with others that he needs some time in QCup to regain form/confidence. If CT is fit I'd like to see Isaako come in for Marzhew and CT be the voice at the back.

I'd go with:

1. Isaako
2. Sami
3. Kelly
4. Herbert
5. CT

14. Paul Turner

Also, kinda interesting but i'm pretty sure we currently have the same amount of Kiwi players as the Warriors do if you count Joe Vuna as a Kiwi and not an American.

Update: Phil Sami ruled out this weekend with COVID :/

is that Jojo Fifita's music?!

A loss to the Tigpies would be disastrous at this stage. Selection of the pack will be pivotal as a key indicator into our coach's mindset.

Have to make a change to our bench. Might not be good for the ego but I think we need one of Liu off the bench start Jolliffe so we have an experienced bmiddle when everyones starting to get tired and dont leak so many second half points again

Marsters before Jojo I would assume. Shame about Spry, this could've been his opportunity.

Isaako FB and Thompson back thank god. Do we think he'll go straight onto Sami's left wing, or swap Marzhew on the left so Thompson can try fix up that right edge defence?

Gee I would much rather Thompson at fullback. Isaako is not a renowned organiser and he's new to our systems. Surely he'd be better suited on the wing, at least initially.

Herbert is a much better defender than Kelly. I think swapping Marzhew to the left wing would do more harm than good.

That's fair but oppositions have obviously identified our right edge as a major weakness and all the attack is getting thrown at them. It seems to be an issue of communication amongst that whole edge causing the problem. I'd say the Tigers will go into the game with the gameplan of attacking our right so switching Marzhew to the left shouldn't make it get targeted too much.

This might be embarrassing for us.

No idea what to expect on Thursday night. We've shown this season in patches we can be a seriously competitive team but we've also shown that we can still give up 22 point leads so there's that.

We should slap the Tigers but we do always have a habit of playing down to crap teams.

I think they'll stick with Marzhew on the right for continuity but he seriously needs to improve. His work on defence isn't even Qcup standard.

Thompson is a left wingman so he's in his best position. Isaako has to offer more than JC at this stage by just being a bigger body. He won't be our saviour but he should at least hold his own with a point to prove as well.

Our right edge has been a point of exposure since day dot but are we that different to most other teams in that respect? I don't think so. We are getting schooled through the middle on line speed and aggression ... that's the humungous issue I reckon.
