Round 7: TITANS v BRONCOS (2023)

The 1st half we were in the main pretty good and were the better side. We lost when our bench came on who could not handle Hass and Cardigan and our inexperience again cost us big time with many errors leading to 3 tries.

Mo was great and he has improved out of sight the last couple of weeks.

Lui again was poor who managed a whole 22 metres from 3 runs and missed 4 tackles. The better locks have a combination of go forward and link plays but Lui just does not roll up his sleeve in the go forward.

Stimson needs to move to the middle to give us more experience when our starting props have a trst as well as a fact he offers very little as an edge forward in attack.

I agree that whilst Tannah is improving and a great goal kicker, his ceiling is not that high as he does not seem to have the skillset to put players through gaps. Only if our club had the foresight to go hard for Reynolds when he was available who was superb in controlling the Broncos particularly in the 2nd half.

crickets.

Watched the highlights after listening to it, after cooling down from losing to those dorks I'm not to mad at the performance. The chargedown on half time that would deflate any team but we came out pretty well but then the Riki break and try from it broke us. I didn't love the defence from Boyd or Stimson on the try but it was after the break and Broncos had a good line running at us which is hard to defend at the best of times.

Then that sinbin and most teams are going to leak points when your 12 man down against the Broncos right now. Horrible call imo but what can you do, It ruined a pretty great game as well which I think we were still in. It looks like Iszac is playing second row when Mam try but Lui had a poor attempt.

It's clear that Stimson needs a break earlier then we're giving him, He seems to be getting tired earlier each week and we need to take him off and with Tinos sinbin he'd be in the 2nd row but both them coming off at the same time hurt us.

Three of their tries came off our errors and going length of the field and 2 during Tinos sin bin. I don't love Sami running out trying to shut down plays but it seems to be the defensive tactic, He's got to get to his man if we keep doing it.

After calming down (should try it more often), There's some really positive signs. None of this happened for no reason like in previous years where we have crumbled, I think any team having 2 break away tries happen against them in 20 mins when we were attacking and then our captain getting a weak sin bin would struggle.

All in all, not so bad and I hate the Broncos more then ever.

We certainly share a mutual distaste for that club and it cuts deep. But I can also see things a bit more rationally.

There those two tries off full moon events. And we were caught without a fullback positioned because JC himself was kicking the ball.

Then you have the si bin which opened up an avalanche of points against us.

We'll get another shot at em in Round 17 at Lang Park.

How dare you come on here and be level-headed and rationale after a loss to Brisbane DH. Reading this thread I thought that the sky was falling, the club was folding, we're an enternal basket case and we got spanked 60 points to nil and I had watched the wrong game

isn't this Justin Holbrook's team running around out there though?

Anyways that second half was more of the same ****, doesn't matter who our coach is. Been happening for years and nobody seems to have an answer for it. We are a soft club and it's no wonder our QLD darbies aren't treated as bigger occasions like those between the other QLD teams. We are the joke of QLD, have been for years and at this rate will be for many more to come.

sometimes I wonder why you support this club man I gotta admit haha

I've made numerous valid points. You're the one with the straw man, sarcastic white-knight Holbrook defense that its never his fault when players make mistakes. I'm surprised you haven't brought out the "you couldn't play any better" defense yet.

We've done the exact same things game after game for four seasons. At what point does the coach stop getting a hall pass?

You seem to think you're pretty smart though. Please let us know what the problem is (if any). Do you not think something is wrong?

Also calling out the likes of Taylor, Zillman and Cartwright et, al is perfectly valid when they've taken up a huge chunk of the cap and played like crap. That's not scapegoating

I agree with all of this

Also agree with this

Easy mate,

1. Coach Holbrook needs to stop injecting the boys with bad vibes the exact moment they make a low IQ play.

2. Fire Holbrook, sign Geoff Toovey.

3. Build time machine, go back to April~ 1975 and try to ensure that Justin Holbrook's parents never conceive him.

4. Holbrook big meanie.

5. Shouldn't have let go of Jamal Fogarty man, should've also signed Adam Reynolds.

6. While we're on the subject, sign SHAUN JOHNSON.

7. Isaac Liu lets the team down because he doesn't run for 200 metres a game and also scores 2 tries. Kevin Proctor 2.0.

8. Greg Marzhew was a fantastic defensive winger (GT's words verbatim) and we traded him for a Hooker. LOL Titans!.

9. Greg Marzhew might've been completely unplayable but hey at least he took a couple of big carries and had cool dance moves.

10. Aaron Schoupp what a waste of a buy, should just hand Jaylan De Groot a jersey instead, he's a real lunchpail kinda guy, wouldn't mind him dating my daughter.

11. When we win it's absolutely not Justin Holbrook's success, when we lose, however, call the executioner.

12. Holbrook stinky.

13. Give [Random Train & Triallist that none of you have ever seen bar HS' comments or a couple youtube clips] a go! He couldn't be any worse than [Solid FGer who has been good for us]

14. Ken Maumalo? What a waste, we should've just signed Dom Young.

15. Jayden Campbell is only there bc Dad. Nepotism hire.

I'm going to refer to his 10 best looking Titans post whenever someone questions why I'm a fan of this club.

Personally I blame everything on Jacob Alick and Ethan our Chief Morale Officer.

Hey NZ, is it a public holiday in Kiwi? That’s a wonderfully comprehensive piece of work :D

Yeah it is mate, day of mourning actually.

The day Justin Holbrook was conceived, worst day in history according to most of this forum after a loss.

get a life, seriously lol

are you that upset that some of us have different opinions than you? It sure seems that way to me.

sometimes I wonder why you support this club man I gotta admit haha

But then I could just say that sometimes I wonder why you have to sugar-coat everything and make out that everything is okay, only for the same result to repeat itself over and over again (and I'm not trying to be a **** by saying that towards you HS).

For me, I'm just sick of losing to the Brisbane, and sick of my team being known as the rollover club that we are, nearly every year for the past 12. And as I already said, I thought we were great in that first 40 for the most part, but the moment any little adversity was thrown at us, that was it. And that's been our story for years. Originally had a lot more to add to this post but I'm just gonna leave it at that.

On first look it did look similar to previous years but I really don't think it was even close to our previous melt downs. Three tries off our own attacking mistakes where Broncos went length of the field and two when Tino went to the bin. I don't think there's a team in the comp right now that can defend against Brisbane with 12 man. Even though we're 3 and 3, We've been leading pretty much every game and in them which is completely different to previous years.

I was angry to but after the game but when you look back on it there's a lot more positives along with some areas where we can improve that are noticeable where as in previous years it's been shocking defence and fitness. We did take it to the top team right now and like a lot of people have mentioned in reviews, The score line flatters Broncos quite a bit.

I do have some question marks about how Holbrook uses our bench but other then that, I've been pretty impressed with him this year, Even in the press conference after I was pretty proud of how he handled it, He nearly started blaming stuff on ref but stopped himself and him and Tino took ownership and said we have to do better.

My response to that is that you probably aren't reading my posts properly GT. Just beause I don't react emotionally, communicate negative opinions about a game with an oversimplified hyperbolic view of the club, doesn't mean I'm "sugar coating everything". There's such a thing as being reasonable, level-headed and rationale even on the weeks you lose. There's also such a thing as being able to identify positives and negatives both at a micro level and in the big picture of the club without it being completely hinged to the result on the weekend. I point out positives and negatives. Just in a different way to how you do it.

Those are all fair reasons to be upset, I dont agree with it all but I hear you. But I asked why you support the club, not for more reasons why you're angry at it haha. I think i'd be more understanding on the whole if you showed some balance in your posting to show you're able to also recognise positives or assess the game on an insightful level or even further explained some of the negative perspectives you hold but honestly mate all I see is angry posts in match threads and hence it makes me wonder how the Titans manage to keep you as a fan

You know what they say about sarcasm right?

I'm glad to hear your happy to accept the 658th time in a row this team has folded like a deck chair to the Broncos at half time.

There's a lot of denial in this forum if anyone is pretending like there's much positive to take out of that game. Sure the first half was good but most alarmingly it is clear we still lack any resilience as a group as soon as the tide turns. We are downhill skiers only.

No wonder we are a losing club, even most of our fans seem content with history repeating itself over and over, snd not in a good way.

Here's hoping that the losing stench that permeates deeply through this club may one day be removed. It looks doubtful though.

Holbrook sucks! :)

Don't you realise we should be circle-jerking because we put a good 35 minutes together?
