Round 9: MANLY vs TITANS (2023)

Ok... What do you want??? haha, Manly were second, we were at their home ground on the 700th game there, We got a try against us and fought back...

I honestly think if Holbrook can figure out how to use our bench and we get healthy we're not that far off...

It's easy to keep saying "I'm a realist".... There's 2 coaches every year who get to the finals and it's been hogged between about 4 teams for the last 7 years.... Panthers, Storm, Roosters, Eels and Raiders are the only teams who made it since 2017. Who do you want from them??? Flannigans the assistant at Manly who we beat... Maguire?

4 coaches have won comps and one of thems Wayne hahaha. The others are assistants for reasons...

Mate I'm not sure if you know it but your suffering from mind diarrhoea. Give some other posters a chance it just might allow some intelligent debate instead of dribble...yep you'll have the squirts over that one.
Lots on here have had a gut full of below average outcomes and now demand a much higher standard not FOOLS GOLD (you'll probably have to google that).

hahahah alright pal. Me and NZFan will go back to cuddling and one of us can be the top????? Who do you bet because that's a super funny joke. That's my fools gold.

Holbrook said in the presser that AJ injured his other hamstring. Shudder to think he gradually loses his explosiveness off the mark like Turbo has if these injuries continue.

MINI GF record played 1 won 1 lost 0.
With that win we can still salvage a good season.
All wins are great
That one was absolutely crucial.
Scotch in the beautiful little city tonight my friends.

Till the next time we have a mini GF adios friends.

Never ever give up the GC dream.

Squirt...Squirt...Squirt

Hahaha let's celebrate the wins. Noone said we're about to win a title, This is a step forward that we all asked for and it happened. Noones denying there's a lot more to go but we beat who was in front of us while beating some demons.

That's what I am talking about! Good gritty win.

However, someone needs to get a full assessment on AJ's upper legs. Injured both in a span of a month. Kind of worried He'll lose his spark off the line.

On the other hand, This all just cemented the thought process of having JC in the team. He MUST be in the 17 no matter what, and I'd even push for starting IF it wasn't for his own impact off the bench.. Very tough decisions if everyone's fit.

Either way, very happy with that win!

can you give it a rest please @NZTITAN? This win changes nothing for me after what we had to endure over the past couple of weeks, and I'm entitled to that opinion.

Hit me up in September when we've made the final 8, and I'll happily eat humble pie.

edit again: I also did own that dumb first quote I made in the heat of the moment last week; club is fine, team/coach are still questionable IMHO.

No worries mate, was a little bad faith on my part this time, I apologise.

Strong win regardless, desperately needed this one. Need to string a few more together though.

Awesome win tonight. We all deserve to bask in it tonight - we've been through enough to deserve it. I hope everyone on here and every Titans fan goes to bed happy.

We're all frustrated with the downs and less accepting of the ups as a consequence but we've all gotta seize the moment before it passes us by. Life's like that.

Each of us are entitled to our opinions but our opinions aren't without consequences either. Let's keep it about the club we love and not about a post we didn't like or get oversensitive to a different view. There's a range of opinions - some more educated than others but all equal on this forum. I'm certain I've been guilty of dribble on here too but that's just unbridled passion. Let's not make it personal. We're better than that. Diehard said it again today about the calibre of fan we are. Let's never make a liar out of him.

Let's stick together and stick with our team. We'll all be better for it, even if we do lose our hair or go a bit greyer earlier, at least we'll do it together. Now on with celebrating the W.

(Not singling anyone out, just reflecting on some uneasy observations this week).

Fortunate to be in Syd for a work trip this weekend so went to the game last night.

Game plan was very simple and was executed very well. I get that Tanah's kicking is boring to watch but it's pretty much perfect for what the team is trying to do, and it worked a treat in those conditions. Thought he played very well overall.

Got extremely nervous when that momentum flipped early in the second half but we weathered it ok. BK almost single handedly flipped the momentum the wrong way with his low IQ double movement, and then getting stripped of the ball at the other end. Also, his attempts for a cheap win to strip the opposition when it's not on is giving away a penalty a week at this stage which is just inexcusable. That's really my only negative takeaway. And yes I know I'm like a broken record haha

Fifita enormous and his communication off the ball is really good for a backrower too, on both sides of the ball. He's got more of a leadership role on the field than you'd think.

Mo is making me eat my words on him and I'm so glad. Tino was Tino and contributed hugely but he needs to get some of those errors and penalties out of his game. I gotta give a shoutout to Lofi as well - I really thought this would be the week his assignment might be too much against a big body in Saab but Lofi competed on absolutely everything and his hops for his height are seriously impressive. Also thought our bench played their role pretty well.

JC was great and was carrying the ball like he's 20kg heavier. His contribution every time he gets the chance at fullback is really helping his stock and I have to admit, AJ's injury concerns are definitely creating cause for discussion around what we do there.

Happy with that W. I know Manly didn't play great, but we controlled the game for the majority, looked the far better team, and the process to how we got there was sound. Manly have had games where they've been poor overall but still found ways to score plenty of points so to shut them out with only one try at Brookvale is commendable.

I love the Titans mate but I'm a realist as well.
Manly were atrocious

Wins a win but Manly had a lot of outs and were terrible. I'll judge how good this win is when Manly have to play the same line up next week against the Broncos. That will give us a better gauge.

I’m gonna sound like the biggest fanboy but I could not be more impressed with Fifita this year. I think he has shown that he is the best backrower in the comp already, we all knew what a freak he was athletically but he’s backing it up with an insane work rate this season, consistently taking 15+ runs a game and making over 170 metres. And then he has added ballplaying to his game as well this year which is so effective with the way teams commit defenders to him.

The army camp video also showed us that he is more of a leader than we thought, and as HS just said it sounds like he is a leader on the field with his communication this year too. Couldn’t be more happy with his form this year and I think we have got a fantastic deal with his new contract.

And don’t forget his newly found kicking game. I’ve also been watching him in the sheds before games and he seems to be getting amongst the players with encouragement which gells with HS comments. I completely retract all the doubt I had about him before he renewed his contract.
