Round 9: TITANS vs STORM (2024)

I like Hollbrook as a bloke...but Des' press conferences are far better. He is a leader of men. He'll stand by his players and he won't let people put words in his mouth. He certainly won't be lead by the nose by journalists. A breathe of fresh air and it's easy to see why players respect him so highly.

He and Foz were spot on in their evaluation.

We are on the up! You can feel it building...

I bet Tino wishes he could play with this team that has been taking the field for the last few weeks. It's a different side to the one he was leading when he did his knee. I reckon he'd love to be a part of this turn around.
He'd just be getting in the way and is the wrong leader so things wouldn't be going as well IMO.

Respect your opinion. I on the other hand think he'd be an awesome addition to a squad that doesn't just want him to do all the work now. At the start of the year there was Tino...now we have several "Tino's" out there. He'd give our forward pack more punch.

I put the boot in a few weeks ago, but you should always give credit where credit is due.

Sammy Verrills was bloody good tonight! And I don't just say that because I love a double consonant. He took it to the storm tonight. Seems like he might have found his mojo again!

Really proud of that effort. 72 minutes with 16 men against the in-form Storm and we nearly got em. The errors are regrettable and will hopefully reduce but we know BK always has two per game minimum. Jojo seemingly drops a bomb each game too. Still too many soft tries.

Agree with Meno about Verrills. I've been on his case but he was good tonight. AJ was fantastic. Randy out of position was rock solid as always. JJ was my pick of the middles but they all did a job.

I see some disregard for HSS but I'm not sure Schoupp would have been better. They would have targeted his speed. Fermor is a big worry.

I think Des is improving us each week and there were some great defensive moments tonight that I haven't seen for a very long time. We're still a long way short of where we need to be with the ball in their 30. Some really dumb decisions at times.

Stimmo and Liu didn't get many minutes considering we played with 16 men. I'm not sure Des has got the bench just right yet but then I struggle to think of when I would have brought them on for more.

Clark, Pahulu, Haas were all good.

I'm happy that we nearly rolled the storm with so much improvement still in us.

Yeah of course in theory he makes the side with his motor and work ethic any day of the week but that's about his limit (I thought he might be a real weapon at second row but the injury will see an end to that)
Morally I just don't see how he fits in when he's stealing $400K a season from everyone involved with the club (yes it was his chose).
The only way he would be captain under the initiated Des is thru a residual contract  RIP the Tino curse

No worries, Rav. I reckon he'd be the sort of bloke that would relinquish the captaincy if Des thought it best for the club. Of course, I could be wrong.

Verrills had his best game for us last night. Not sure how to accommodate both him and Randall but both of them suit longer game minutes.

J Fifita had great edge defense shutting down the opposition aswell. Finally we have some good jamming from our wingers.

Pahulu was very impressive starting.
Love the aggression he plays with, which is one thing Moe lacks.
Definitely developing into a star for us.
