The Former Titans Thread

Meninga has finally publicly announced the role that we had been paying him for since 2018 and is now officially paid for by the club of his heart.

So funny listening to the interview and he says that he’s Raiders “Thru and Thru”.
Yea my mum said something about "Raiders forever."

“I’m honestly privileged and honoured to go back and help out the mighty Raiders, obviously I live in the area, I’m a resident of Canberra and I follow the Raiders, forever green so when I had the opportunity to go back and help them in any capacity really,” he said.

Canberra has really honed some Queensland ar$eholes: Kevin Rudd, Wayne Bennett and of course ye ole Meninga, to name but a few ... sorry Brad :)

Certainly you don't mean me? I reckon Russel Klein dines out on Smell Mafinger's rag-dolling, lololol.

And how about J. Wallace going to France? That's really letting the cat amongst the pigeons.

Peachey moving back to Gold Coast next year.,He is supposed to be retired at the end of this year and he is past NRL standard but might be a good pick up for Tweed if they need some experience. Would not let him near our club though.

I'm glad it is not us paying Meninga for doing sweet f*** all anymore.

He did send out a good weekly email his first year or two though, only rivalling a Steve Mitchell powerpoint presentation for impact.

Former NRL star charged over drugs, suspected stolen cash

Former NRL and Origin star James Roberts has been charged after allegedly being found in possession of cannabis and more than $1000 in suspected stolen cash.

Police on Wednesday charged Roberts, who was in 2015 named the Dally M Centre Of The Year, with prohibited drug possession and possessing goods, allegedly $1400 in cash, suspected of being stolen.

Roberts was stopped by police in Matraville on July 30 but was only issued with a court attendance notice this week.

He played 168 games for South Sydney, Penrith, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Wests Tigers over an 11-year career and represented NSW in the 2018 State of Origin series.

“James has done some amazing things in rugby league and was one of those players who could bring a crowd to its feet,” then-Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe said in 2022 of Roberts’ retirement.

Roberts’ career was marred by injuries and a string of off-field controversies.

Last year, a visibly frustrated Roberts was filmed punching the door of a police van as he was led away from Downing Centre Local Court, where he was facing an apprehended violence order.

Roberts is expected to appear in Waverley Local Court on December 18.

Well I'm shocked. James Roberts doing something stupid?!?

I’m usually one for grown men to be mature and wise enough to look after themselves, especially ex pro sports who receive plenty of education and guidance above what the normal person gets.
But this is a clear case where RLPA need to get heavily involved with Roberts. Unfortunately his issues have been evident for a long time and it seems to be spiraling to a place of very serious trouble.
I also hear that his younger brother is having his own issues with the law.
Come on RLPA step up.

Unfortunately his younger brother Michael who was a star at PBC has also been charged with drug supply and now has had his contract torn up by Souths.
( The article from Zero Tackle does not state what type of contract other than he was contracted to Souths). Must have looked up to his older brother as a role model.

Hide your nose beers and vapes Gents!.. Gold Coast Titans legend Kevin "Cokey" Proctor has signed on with the Currumbin Eagles this season.
