Titans to play pre-season trial on Gold Coast

The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans will bring their pre-season campaign back to the Gold Coast for season 2012 with a full scale pre-season trial match against the Brisbane Broncos set down for February.

In what will mark the club?s first pre-season trial match to be held on the Gold Coast since 2008, the Jetstar Titans will take on arch rivals the Brisbane Broncos at Pizzey Park, Miami on Saturday, February 11.

The Jetstar Titans? last pre-season match on the Gold Coast was the first ever match played at Skilled Park against the Wests Tigers prior to the official opening of Skilled Park in 2008.

The Broncos trial match will follow on from a massive week of rugby league on the Gold Coast for the third annual Harvey Norman All Stars clash between the Indigenous and NRL All Stars at Skilled Park on Saturday, February 4.

The Jetstar Titans will play three pre-season trial matches in total, including a hit-out against last year?s grand finalists the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland and a clash with Round 1 opponents the North Queensland Cowboys in Mackay on Saturday, February 18.

The Jetstar Titans full pre-season schedule is included below:

* JETSTAR TITANS vs NZ WARRIORS (Sat, Feb 4) ? North Harbour Stadium, Auckland

* JETSTAR TITANS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS (Sat, Feb 11) ? Pizzey Park, Miami

* JETSTAR TITANS vs NORTH QLD COWBOYS (Sat, Feb 18) - Mackay

Jetstar Titans Head Coach John Cartwright said it was exciting to be able to play a pre-season trial match on home turf during the build-up to season 2012.

?It?s great for us to be playing a trial match at home and it?s great for rugby league on the Gold Coast. Over the last few years we?ve played trial matches in places such as Darwin, Cairns and Coffs Harbour so to be playing a trial match on the Gold Coast in front of our own supporters will really add to the build-up heading into the 2012 season,?? said Cartwright.

Tickets for the Titans vs Broncos match will go on sale in the coming weeks through the Burleigh Bears. The Titans will officially kick-off the 2012 season with a Round 1 blockbuster against the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville.

Interesting, will be playing the Cowboys twice in a row. Be a good opportunity to put some big hits on their blokes!

As amazing as it may seem to those who know of my long-distance affair with the Titans, I am planning to come home with the family after Chinese New Year for a short spell and that Pizzey Park match looks likely ... sun, surf, sand AND the new Titans ... excuse me while I race off for a cold shower.

Your passion and enthusiasm is contagious.

Hope to catch up at the game!

Sounds great ... so many choices; drink beer, eat pies, talk Titans, abuse Broncos ... heaven on earth.

Good luck finding him.........No room there at a Burleigh match..so gunna be bloody packed for this match I am sure. I need to bribe someone and get into the broadcast stand. ;) .......or get there the day before. Similar to lining up for grand final tickets I guess.:D Sleeping bag under the western stand will do me.

Sounds like our version of Return to Redfern or Belmore!

Would have thought they could have scheduled this match for a ground that has some spectator appeal, but PIZZEY park, great for a small crowd however I think this one we will have to reserve a seat in one of the trees out the back. On a day when we can all get along and see what we have for the new year and chop into the PONIES. There wont be enough PIES and BEER to go around....

wonder if they sell enough tickets or get enough interest they will consider moving it to somewhere with more space???
