What can we do better?

Appsy

Junior
Was going to try and create a new thread with this but though it'd be better suited here to ask. Asking mainly due to the discourse surrounding Fifi and Steve Mitchell in the signings thread.
How can we, as fans and as a community, help improve our club's operations, look, and appeal? I for one, no matter how much the on field performances piss me off, love this club to it's core. It's all I have ever known, and I want us to actually be looked upon favourably by outsiders, as I am sure we all do. But am a bit lost on what we can do. Can we as a community help with the junior systems and it's pathways? How can we upgrade our facilities without relying on Government funding?

I think this would make a great thread on its own and would be productive and positive. I remember many of us also talking about what we could do at schools as teachers, parents and coaches too.

Shall I split it? What do you want the new thread to be called?

Yeah let's split it. Would've called it something like "What can we do better?" but sounds cheesy as 😅

It worked! To keep track, as we come up with some good topics and ideas, I might edit the original first post (yours) and add some links to the different pages.

Awesome work as always @DIEHARD ! Now hopefully this can get some traction with discussions that could lead towards a potential opportunity for us fans and the community to present to the club moving forward. Would love to hear everyone's ideas on what we could do

Honestly, go to games and buy merch. It’s a large scale operation — not much more we little people can do at a small scale to influence the success of the club.

Well I think there is alot we can do. Sure they are small things but it is a case of us being greater than the sum of our parts.

Concept in holism related to the idea that the total effectiveness of a group of things each interacting with one another is different or greater than their effectiveness when acting in isolation from one another.

For example, usually fans have a lot to do with recruiting new fans.

Fans looking for a club, look to a fanbase and ask "Is that me?", "Do I wanna be associated with these people?"

Fans with family, also can bring in new fans. And can be a source for feedback about the trials and tribulations of keeping them on board when the Panthers, Broncos, Roosters or Storm are such an easy out.

Teachers too, have and eye and an ear for what's happening in the playground.

A major incentive for me would to expand the frontline section, and have our own sort of 'ultra', like they have over in Europe and South America. Without the over the top throwing live flares onto the field, of course. Atmosphere is key at sporting events, and while the frontline does do their best and I am nothing but appreciative of BKR leading the chants, expanding our exposure and being the face, it's just too small in my opinion. I would love if the club backed this, and we saw the utilisation of either the North or South stand's as the Frontline, but have every single seat have a name on it and packed. Create an atmosphere like no other in the NRL. Make it our niche. Make people WANT to attend just so they can be apart of the electric and loud atmosphere.

One thing I loved was match-day support and atmosphere and before I moved I put a lot of time into it. I'm still a Frontline season ticket member.

I can say that the club emailed all members and asked for views and ideas about it. So perhaps you can send some ideas in.

I'm also a fan of Japanese baseball and they have an amazing supporter culture too. One that everyone participates in, stadium wide. Every player had a song and all fans knew the songs and some songs also have actions.

We also have to look for fresh blood and youth just like our players.

It's all a lot of fun.

There is absolutely so much more we can do to influence the success of the club, and that is not taking a backseat to what is happening with it. On field results being piss poor? Disheartening, sure. whether you are a member or non member and can make it to the next game, show up and show out to prove that no matter what, you are a diehard fan. Upset with how management is handling things? Let's get members together to demand a meeting with them for an explanation and what the plan will be moving forward. If you've ever been to the Parkwood HQ, they are genuinely open to hearing feedback face to face from members.

Supporting this club is probably up there as one of the hardest tasks in the world of sports. But we do it because we love this club. We support the boys week in, week out. Once the NRLW starts up again, we will support the girls week in, week out. Develop the culture that we aren't backing down nor going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

I am sure our fanbase is full of creative individuals with ideas that management and others alike would look at and take it all on board 110%. There is bound to be an architect within our fanbase who could get a proper Leagues Club designed. I'm sure there are plenty of us who have the keenest eye for footy talent, who wouldn't be shy watching the juniors play and pick out the next developmental player to present to the club for a trial. There are members who can create the most creative and fear invoking flags and banners to bring to the games.

It may be a full scale operation, but we can absolutely assist the club with it. Just have to be ready & willing to.

Would be ecstatic if we came up with chants/songs for each player. Would also create one's to shout at the opposition (Arsenal & Tottenham come to mind with their banter rivalry).

Something that a couple of AFL clubs do is when a player scores a goal they play a song that the player themselves has selected. The fans then sing along as it is played.
On the Leagues club, it needs to be within walking distance of the stadium IMO. Might not be an option anymore but it would make for a great way to celebrate a win if you could walk there after a game.

Selected songs for players after they score would be a fantastic and easy move.

Didn’t they used to play that Queen song about Flash Gordon when Kevin Gordon scored? Or was that my internal monologue

Well I guess there's no better time than now to ask it here - are we in anyway fully satisfied with how the club is being run regarding player retention/management, ticketing, info on operations, etc.?

I know it's immature but whatever.

To be sung this weekend to the tune of Hava Nagila: "Fark Off Fatfita - Fark Off Fatfita - Fark Off Fatfita, the Gold Coast doesn't need ya!"

And to the tune of Daisy: "Davey, Davey, you're off to the red, white and blue. Davey, Davey, so good-bye with a big fark you"

Great idea to get supporters on board with any idea's it would certainly help keep the fan base engaged and show that the Titans listen. I am aware that three other NRL clubs have approached people on this forum in relation to things. PS the answer in each case was no

It sounds stupid but just be good. The choke jobs for the last 3 years have been horrible to gain crowds and the Dolphins one at Suncorp was as bad as it gets against the worst team for casuals here because Dolphins are just up the road and have the glow about them right now....At least now with the losses lately you can see the effort and heart, That will get a casual back instead of laughing at us, A few of my mates are way more keen on the team right now because they see us getting "robbed" and see us as a underdog and not just chokers with talent. It's small wins like that, Just show heart.

I look at it similar to Miami Heat in the NBA, There's so much to do on the GC that if you aren't commanding attention so much else to do that fans and the base are going to be plastics mainly or we'll be the 2nd team for lots of people. They are already targeting kids which is going to work long term if the team does well.

Miami Heat also sell tickets for 2.50 even for playoffs sometimes to get people in the door while getting tonnes of money in bars and all the things we've finally got, The venue is great to go to, Everything is easily access and there's good food trucks around, Why not make tickets super cheap to get way more in the door, Your'e hiring the close to same staff anyway.

I'd say the Broncos game last year was a great example, Sell out and the vibes were massive going into it and we pretty much choked like always, Those 3/4k casuals all got turned off that could've become fans. The fan base is there still, There's a tonne of baggage from previous owners but the GC has also changed and massively grown, There's a new audience there even if we're the second team to the parents, Win and be successful and we'll get the kids for sure.
