2025 Squad, Signings and Rumours Thread

Confirmation on the official site of what HS and I confirmed a while ago that Viliami Fifita has resigned for four years, the additional information is that he will join the NRL squad when he finishes school at the end of 2026.
Thanks mdrew, massive shout from yourself and HS calling this weeks ago. Hope this means we can tie down Jojo pretty shortly.

Also, pretty happy with the future crop of forwards coming through the system, historically we've been awful at either identifying or developing good junior middles. Could be something in the water on the GC where we just pump out 7s and 6s only lol. Infact, for about a decade, the only decent middle we produced was Ryan James really. Jarrod Wallace and Bodene Thompson also ended up having great careers, but there havent been any Titans juniors other than them and Max King who went on to be legitimate quality forwards from the late '00s-early-mid '10s. But the likes of Hau, Cooper Bai, Viliami Fifita, Kumbamong, To'a and others look to be a solid batch.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen them post a junior extension like that

It either means they’re building hype for Jojo extending or they’re trying to soften the blow that he’s going elsewhere

I seriously doubt that Jojo would be going anywhere. The meltdown on here alone would be of biblical proportions including but not limited to the gnashing of teeth, self-flagellation, the tearing of hair and rending of garments.

Pilas (dad) highlights are one of my youtube guilty pleasures, I reckon you can see a bit of Jojo in there as well and it's cool seeing Amy the mum help the players/kids get ready for pre season running drills and there's starting to be a decent crew from first grade through to the juniors, It's pretty cool seeing HSS, Jojo, Viliami, Jai Bilish, Vuna and others all working together.

As much as I have disdain for them, Newcorpse reported that Jojo re-signed a couple days ago on either fox or cm (can't remember which one) that he's re-signed till 2028 and they've been right on all of them from what I can tell.

JOJO FOR PM

Viliami is a bit more like those two then I think he's been allowed to show yet, I'd love to see him get a shot in the second row or at least running wider because I think he's a bit up and down right now but has all the potential in the world.

Former Byron Bay Devils halfback Jesse Soric has signed a two year deal with the Titans.

In 2024 Jesse Soric played in the U19 SG Ball and U21 Jersey Flegg competitions for the New Zealand Warriors.

Jesse Soric is a former Keebra Park SHS student and seemingly the Titans will be playing in a National U21 competition in 2025!

Yep.

They’re signing heaps of guys into the later end of the junior system to have them ready for this comp. We’ve signed a few others from Tweed MM side as well. Broncos doing same thing up the road in terms of loading up on the 19s age group in preparation for that comp. I thought the national comp was 2026 though, not 2025. But could be wrong.

Just to clarify (and I know you know this mdrew but for anyone else) - this isn’t an NRL deal. Think of it as similar to the U20 comp contracting.

I know we are all super keen for next year and don’t have much to watch but seen this highlight vid from JDG from his 2024 QCup season with Ipswich pretty decent year played FB, Wing and 6 some nice defence in amongst his attack solid little double play towards the end vs dolphins made a stop on a break then cleaned up the next play, anyway if you’re bored was worth a watch

I really respect JDG as a player, if you told me he'll play 100+ NRL games i'd absolutely believe it. I sadly don't think it will be with us for Keano Kini (hopefully) reasons, although, if he was about 2 inches taller I think he could develop into a pretty nice centre down the track.. in saying that, I don't really believe that his physique will get there, just doesn't have the frame for it. Good player though, some smart team will pick him up amidst all the fullback deck chairs moving around in the next 24 months or so, and turn him into a quality FGer wherever that may be on the park.

Apparently Pahulu has asked for an immediate release according to CM so who knows how true.

We always were going to lose someone sooner then later with the upgrades coming IMO while bringing in RCG and keeping Dave, We're already spending a tonne on forwards.

The Gold Coast Titans are on the verge of losing their best young player to Phil Gould’s Bulldogs.
Titans rookie of the year Josiah Pahulu is eyeing an immediate release from the final year of his contract to join a resurgent Canterbury.
Pahulu is contracted at the Titans until the end of next year but the Bulldogs are keen to get him to Belmore ahead of the 2025 NRL Premiership.
At this stage the Titans are yet to grant an immediate release, but it appears Pahulu will depart Parkwood at some stage in the next year.

“bred not bought” hey Gus.

For a guy who parades around criticising our ability to develop players (including to parents as part of his pitch) and praising that of the Bulldogs, this sure flies in the face of that.

Anyway, only release him early if we get a trade. Otherwise don’t bother.

Why on Earth would we release him early? Especially as Joisiah and his agent are thumbing their nose at the club. Quite a bit of nerve actually expecting us to release him immediately when he is clearly going to be in our best 17 every week.

That being said our "great ownership" team's penny pinching is now coming home to roost again. This club is going nowhere under Frizelle, Kelly and Steve Mitchell.

Swap him for Xerri or don't release him.

Obviously his agent has his snout in the trough. Pahulu was given extra minutes on the back of Tino and Jolliffe's misfortune. Imho, he is a small forward with potential but hardly the superstar yet that the sycophants are talking-up at 63m per game. And as far as his bonus is concerned then I just don't accept the shot at the Club as anything other than poor reporting. Cry me a river. Under the salary cap a bonus should be budgeted for and irrelevant as far as cash flow is concerned. The coach picks his best team based on more than a 50k saving. Honestly, I am no great fan of our management but small mindedness is not one of their faults.

I hope he fulfils his contract but he owes the Club more than it owes him.

I’ll be honest if we did what they said it’s not a good look, he would get a 50k bonus if he played 20 games and we rested him in the last round when he was sitting on 19. Can’t blame him for being pissed but also really hope we don’t let him go

Having cheap owners is fun isn't it? Smart moves, selling off home games and alienating promising players over bonuses! Genius management and ownership.

Of all the clauses the players in the squad have and how ridiculous they are at all, Cheaping out over 50k that I'm guessing would be off the salary cap anyway is certainly a choice hahaha. This feels like something historically inept teams in sports do unless there's more to it because it looks truly amateur even if they aren't/can't/weren't ever re-signing him.

You can't expect loyalty from players or people in an organization if you treat them like that.
