2025 Squad, Signings and Rumours Thread

ooh teamlist time I think the club will go with basically the same 17 that we finished the season with but I hope they go with

1. Kini
2. Akp
3. Brimson
4. Gordon
5. Jojo
6. Campbell
7. Foran
8. Moe
9. Verrills
10. Joliffe
11. Fermor
12. Fifita
13. Tino

14. Randall
15. Rcg
16. Pahulu
17. Haas

My notes : Sami and Kelly were good to do a job but the game has passed them by. Basically I would utilise as injury cover because the backline is probably the thing to be the most at risk with changes throughout the season.
When Foran goes down the pecking order should be that Campbell goes 7 and becomes the leading hand over time, i firmly believe that he has the potential to unlock a Thurston style of play and vision. Brimson at that time would shift to 6 to cover that and Sami / Kelly / Francis would slot in to cover.

I’m not as concerned about the depth chart on the forward pack but I do believe switching Fifita to run off Forans hip would do him a world of good and also having Fermor be the glue guy between brimson / Lofi and the middle would be better as he’s more aerobically fit and Gordon /jojos edge would be strong still. Keeping Jojo as an elite lockdown winger instead of a line buster in centre is better for team dynamics and jojos development aswell imo

The issue with AJ and I was on board with him moving to 6 only a month or so ago but he's a turning 27 year old injury prone player who hasn't been able to play more then 13 games in 2 years, Till he plays consistently I think he needs to be in the centres and the back up option, He can be first up to move into 6 anyway when JC moves to 7 which I think he'll be first choice if Foz goes down. I think Weaver is 3rd option maybe 4th depending on where CG is + Weavers injured I think. If changes happen naturally that's fine but Foz has also been the most healthy out of them despite his age and was great.

It doesn't mean the changes won't happen during the year but I reckon everyone should prepare for basically the same 17 we saw with Tino and RCG taking minutes that Clark, Liu and Keenan played and mins off the others. They're going to give JC a decent amount of time, Jojo is probably staying on the wing another year at least, CG despite talented still needs to show a bit more in cup at centre and a closer to a season if he's going to be a half like any other one. BK did also win players player and 2nd in coaches voting, Might be a bad voting system but I doubt they're dropping someone they see like that.

I think Lofi is the most at risk in the backline, He's the only one out of all of them who actually got dropped, The rest were injuries. He improved a bit but they might want more metres out of our own end as well, They could just move Jojo to the left and go back to AJ/Sami on the right.

A key thing with hindsight was how bad our depth was at times which has been improved, To start the year it was Weaver, Tannah, Randy and Kini against Dragons, That was never going to work. Tannah, HSS for some reason playing wing, Our prop depth being very light at good times and so on. It took Des about 15 rounds to even figure out a pretty regular 17 on top of injuries constantly messing it about. The round 12 game vs Broncos on top of our record there was 12 injuries from memories, It was always going to be a massive struggle but the team probably showed enough in periods to keep at it.

For real though if Brock debuts this year it will be one of the best stories in league, I read a bit up on him and apparently JD/Souths potentially cooked him on a top 36/squad deal of some kind and the deal wasn't there anymore + a true toiler.

Pretty cool they’re announcing JTS players being extended into NRL level contracts a the back end of their deal. They didn’t used to do this.

Jail Bil the latest

IMO the best 9 we’ve had come through at junior level and by a fair way. Tough position to translate to nrl level in any case but interested to see how he progresses.

💙🤍Bulldogs confirm departure of young forward💙🤍

The Canterbury Bulldogs have confirmed the departure of a young forward as they continue to shake-up their roster for the upcoming 2025 NRL season.

Speaking on X (formerly known as Twitter), Canterbury Bulldogs GM of Football Phil Gould confirmed that young front-rower Isaac Matalavea-Booth is no longer with the club.

Compared to Nelson Asofa-Solomona, due to his size - 200cm and 127kg - he joined the Bulldogs from the Gold Coast Titans, where he was once a development player and featured for their affiliate team, Burleigh Bears, in the Hastings Deering Colts competition.

A student of the famed Keebra Park, he spent most of his time at Belmore in the Ron Massey Cup and couldn't quite push for a spot in the first-grade squad.

Matalavea-Booth's departure from the Bulldogs comes after the confirmed exits of Chris Patolo, Harrison Edwards, Hayze Perham, Jeral Skelton, Joash Papalii, Jordan Samrani, Josh Addo-Carr, Kitione Kautoga, Poasa Faamausili and Zane Tetevano to either rival teams or retirements.

Karl Oloapu is also linked with a return home to Queensland with The Dolphins, while young brothers Fanafou Seve and Itula Seve have left for the Sydney Roosters.

Pretty sure he was playing like Ron Massey Cup down there

Didn’t really kick on

IMB broke his ankle badly and was out for a year and a half or so, At his size and weight I reckon any very slim chance of him making it was probably instantly gone. I've noticed quite a few of the kids who are that size are signing to the NFL academy that's started here which is awesome IMO because I'm not sure NRL at this point is a possibility with how it's trending, All these big kids get compared to NAS who's one of the most freakish athletes out there.
So when will we know more on dogs signing the young titans prop des wont let him

There's less then 1% chance we'll release him this year imo, Whether he's going to the Dogs next year is a different story but the longer nothing is coming out might be a good sign for us. Dogs not announcing him yet but Leo quickly seems to me that a deal hasn't been signed.

Also now the Dogs have their shiny new prop toy in Leo Thompson, they may not longer be as eager to sign Josiah.
